CONFERENCE SUMMARY | CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION 1 The Advances in Neurological Therapeutics conference took place on September 17 th , 2011 at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (LRCBH) in Las Vegas, NV. The purpose of the conference was to advance the understanding of neurological therapeutics and provide instruction to regional practitioners regarding diagnosis and treatment of complex neurodegenerative disorders including dementia— particularly Alzheimer’s disease and Rapidly Progressive Dementias, Parkinson’s disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and Multiple Sclerosis. By providing the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment, we sought to help practitioners (including family and primary care physicians, neurologists, psychiatrists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and physical therapists) effectively manage patients in the earliest stages of these diseases and thereby raise the standards of patient prognosis and care. Clockwise left to right: Dr. Jeffrey Cummings, Conference Chair and Director of the LRCBH; Participants during the conference; Dr. Ryan Walsh, Director of the PD and Movement Disorders Program, LRCBH; Dr. Dylan Wint, Director of Education in Neurodegeneration, LRCBH; Dr. Erik Pioro, Director of the Section of ALS and Related Disorders, Cleveland Clinic Main Campus.
