TRANSCRIPT
30 January 2020 | Lichthof, Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Hamburg
The rules-based international order is increasingly under attack, and parties on both sides of the Atlantic are openly questioning multilateral norms and institutions. As the US national security strategy puts ‘America first’, other players assume an ever more assertive global role. For the second time, the FOTAR (Future of Transatlantic Relations) conference format, hosted by the Bundeskanzler-Helmut- Schmidt-Stiftung and the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg, therefore invites distinguished international speakers to discuss how the erosion of long valued norms, regimes, and institutions affects the transatlantic partnership today: Are transatlantic security institutions still a model for stability in the 21st century? How do the EU and the US engage with emerging security actors? And how can new challenges in cyber security be solved by working together?
