PLEASE PRAY FOR POWER FOR AN OFFERING TO BUILD "WMW HOUSE"

Total Given (so far): $40,916.92 WE NEED TO RAISE $48,000 IN ORDER TO BEGIN

CONSTRUCTION.

The Cardenas family is much loved. We've been connected to them for nearly 15 years. The mom is a hard-working single-mom who has legal status in the United States. The kids are outstanding, and are very active in our church ministry. The Housing Ministry and Alpha & Omega Class are raising funds to tear down the current unrepairable home which has leaks in many areas, and to build a simple house in its place. If God shakes loose funds--as you pray, you can give by marking your envelope: "WMW house" Please let these be miraculous funds that God gives in answer to prayer, or sacrificial funds, but don't diminish your support for

Hays Hills’ ministry budget offering.

Attention all Senior Adult Women:

You are cordially invited to our 2nd annual Senior Adult Women’s Brunch

on Saturday, September 28th at 9:30 am

Come hear about the women of our church and how God has placed you here at this point in

time to make a difference!

We will have a delicious brunch prepared just for you.

Please RSVP to Alicia Dover at (210) 831-4131 or by email to [email protected]

your friends and family members.

From Pastor David

In the next few days I will be giving you a written version of “The State of the Church”. I know that sounds kind of like I think I’m a big shot and all, but I couldn’t think of a better title. Obviously only God knows the state of Hays Hills! But we are walking in blindness if we aren’t concerned with our condition and don’t ask Him to reveal our condition. Also, we can see from opportunities and challenges before us some aspects of our condition. Also in talking to members we get insights. So please watch for this in email-form and we will discuss it at our quarterly business meeting this Sunday evening at 6 PM. WILL YOU MAKE A COMMITMENT TO BE AT THE FAMILY GATHERING? Soon I will be asking Hays Hills folks if they would commit to being at the Hays Hills Family Gathering October 12-13. I’m acting in the role of a coach who asks the team to step up in commitment. Obviously we are human, things happen, things can’t be changed—so it’s not a guarantee that you will be at the gathering. It is rather your commitment to be there at all three major events, unless somehow prevented. I’m calling a huddle. Will you come? Deacon Nominations this Sunday. I will also be sending the list of Hays Hills men in the next email update so that you can pray over the names. You may also print it off and bring to church Sunday OR use the email to nominate men by replying to the email. Pastor David

From Tim Greetings from the Worship

and Music Ministry!

The Celebration Choir has been preparing this musical since January of this year and the Praise Band has worked very hard on the instrumental accompaniment. We want you to invite your friends and family to come and join us for worship Sunday morning in either the 9:15 or the 10:45 service. It is good for us to be reminded of God’s Grace.

“For it is by GRACE you have been saved through faith…”

Join us as we sing about and hopefully have a new appreciation for God’s Amazing Grace at work in us and through us. Parents, please don’t forget that both of our Children’s Choirs are now back in session on Wednesday evenings at a new time – 6:15 to 6:40. The 2nd – 5th grade choir meets in the Aquarium of Building A and the K-1st grade choir meets in Building C. I hope you will bring your children to be involved in Children’s Choir and then move right in to Awanas which follows. Breakaway will resume on May 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the Worship Center of Building D. This class is for all youth 6th grade and up who have an interest in music and the arts. A lot of our time this year will be spent creating and presenting multiple Black Light shows. The Symphonic Band will begin their fall rehearsals on Sunday afternoon September 29th at a new time of 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. so our band members will be able to attend A.C.T.S classes or youth activities that begin at 4:30. We would love to have all of our previous members as well as many new folks join us this year. This is a great ministry for those who enjoy playing. This group is for 2nd year band students and up.

If you are interested in private lessons for piano, please see our pianist, Deani Walkup.

She has openings on Sunday afternoon.

Serving Him Together,

Tim Snowden

Administration

HI all. I have been spending much time with our Christian Learning Center over the past several weeks working to revise the financial accounting system and implementing new financial procedures. What an absolute joy it is to be around these special ladies who are so passionate about the children’s ministry at Hays Hills Baptist Church. So many children and their parents lives are positively affected for the Kingdom of God through this ministry. We are blessed to have them here. Pray for Mitzi Hudgins as she takes over the reins from Becky Mazurek beginning October 1 as Interim Director for CLC. Pray for Becky as she assumes a more involved intimate role in the care of her father and granddaughter. Pray for the CLC board as we seek God’s will in who will be the next Director in this vitally important ministry. Do you love to look at a lot of numbers? Does the sound of examining a budget for the year 2014 make you slightly nauseous? …….. I would never tell you what my dear old mother used to say to me “ Get over it!”, but please come to the business meeting this Sunday evening where the 2014 budget will be discussed. The really exciting part about every one of those numbers is they all represent ways that we can glorify God and reach out to others via missions and ministries. Come, share in the excitement as we look past the numbers and see the faces and lives on the other side of the numbers as we seek to glorify our God through all we do! In His service Ken Rector

It’s Not Too Late

If you have not registered for one of our ACTS classes that are held on Sunday afternoons, it is not too

late to join us. Yes, you did miss the first session, but not to fear, the teachers will be more than glad to

help you catch-up.

Pastor David has mentioned many times that although it is the church’s responsibility to provide

opportunities for each and every Christian to grow in their relationship with Christ, it is your

responsibility to take advantage of these opportunities. Once again, here is a quick overview of the

classes that are being offered:

1. Crisis Care - Teaches you how to minister to someone in crisis. Equips you to know what to say

and what not to say. This class is a must for every teacher, deacon, and ministry leader. Building

E, Room E-2. There is a required $6 material charge for this class

2. Way of the Master - Evangelism Training. Teaches you how to lead someone to the place

where they realize they need a Savior. Use God’s word to share the gospel, not sell the gospel.

This class is a must for every Christian who desires to be obedient to God’s word and become His

witness. Buliding E, Room E-1. There is a required $15 material charge for this class

Page 7: CONCERT OF PRAYERstorage.cloversites.com/hayshillsbaptistchurch/documents/newsletter_40.pdfMatt Bridges (son of Stanton and Rhonda Bridges) Maryssa Mears (son of Jon and Mary Mears)

class is taught by a Christian who has experienced everything you are going through. This class is

a must for everyone who needs to recover from a divorce in their life. Building E, Room E-4.

There is a required $15 material charge for this class

4. Lord, Change my Attitude - Replace negative attitudes with God honoring positive attitudes.

thinking formed over a long period of time. This class with help you identify the negative

attitudes in your life and teach you how to replace them with positive attitudes. Building E, Room

E-3. There is an optional $15 material charge for this class.

In addition to our Sunday afternoon classes we also offer the following opportunities to grow on

question and answer session with time for free discussion. This session is led by Pastor David Sweet and

Men’s Bible Study - Tonight is the first session of a new study of the book of Psalms. Led by Stu

Hoylt, it will provide insight to the Psalms that both inform and challenge you. This class will meet in

From Aaron Children’s Ministry

AWANA continues to have great attendance thanks to a great crew of volunteers. However, due to the size of our club growing we could use some additional help in a few areas: Kindergarten Handbook Leaders – listen to kindergartners recite Scripture from their handbooks and help them work through the material. We’ve been having approximately 20 kindergartners in attendance each week! Game Assistants – assist with game time for our clubbers. Our club has grown to the point we need to start running a second game floor and we need some additional help for to run two groups through games simultaneously. AWANA meets on Wednesdays throughout the school year from 6:45-8:10pm. I’d love to visit with you about any interest in assisting! A big thank you to the men who came out to help renovate Bldg. B to handle the sound of so many kids: Roy Fuller David Gill Bill Hergotz Tony Norris Gerald Shirey Ken Rector
