Drafting

• In 1940 the drafting age started at 21 and went to the age of 36.

• During the early 1942 the drafting age was 18 to 37 so as soon as you turned 18 you got your draft card.

• Around 50% of the 20 million got rejected because they were un healthy.

World war II

• In December 7, 1941 Japanese bombed pearl harbor.

• Around June of 1942 the British and U.S. join together to try and stop the Japanese navy from advancing to the Central Pacific.

• In the “we can do it” poster it’s trying to encourage women to join the war and show them they’re strong enough to fight along the sides of men.

• Things were short in supplies for everyone during world war II. So people would ride together to preserve valuable resources. People said “when you ride alone you ride with Hitler” saying your wasting gas by not car pooling.

• Franklin D. Roosevelt- president of the United states. He lead America out of the economic depression.

• Adolf Hiter- German leader. He did not want the Russians capture him so he killed himself.

• The prime Minister of Japan was Hideki Tojo.
