For this store concept I would like to provide consumers with products to help them live a more sustainable life style in a visually please way while offering one of a kind goods for people with a unique design aesthetic. Many people equate an environmentally friendly life style with a boring or very raw unfinished look, which too many is unappealing. The goal of my store is to showcase an attractive design aesthetic that is environmentally conscious and aware. As for the location of the store I think an appropriate place would be NOHO (the former East Village) in New York City. This neighborhood is a mix of eccentrics, working individuals, and young up and comers. The internal design aesthetic will embody city living with an eco-twist and still appeal to the customers wants. The internal look of the store will be exposed unfinished and industrial looking, having used no paints or harmful chemicals in the process. In addition the store space will utilize sky lights and big windows as its main source of lighting. For a fun and different approach to an indoor garden there will be a small self-sustaining eco system (one small tree or shrub, ground covers and mosses) in the room complete with a natural aquifer. The demographics for my store are young working professional and middle aged working individuals they would fall under the category, Small Indulgences, Stressed-out consumers that want to indulge in affordable luxuries and seek ways to reward themselves. Although they have he income to spare they chose to make conscious and savvy purchases that reflect their quirky and unique personalities. The store will offer three main types of home goods: 1. Repurposed and refurbished furniture, if and when possible little or no toxic paints will be used in the process. 2. Home Accessories: Rugs, lamps, wall art, brick-a-brack, etc. all made from recycled or repur-posed things.3. Bathroom goods: Soaps, lotions, candles, and perfumes. All made from self-sustain organic farms in the outer lining areas, all with in a day’s drive. 4. Made by local artisans.
