ImagesMy Product Existing Product

The image used in my film poster and the image in the existing product are of the protagonists of the film in which the target audience would try and create an emotional connection as both products present them as weak and hopeless. This is conventional to the Post-Apocalyptic Horror genre which would appeal to the target audience which is effective in making them go see the film. The images in the existing magazine cover also use the conventions of violence to attract and audience which further establishes a brand identity that would be appealing similar to what I did with mine.

Font My Product Existing Product

A brand identity has been established through the use of a consistent font running throughout each of the three products. The images show a clear comparison with the same font or similar sans-serif font being used, this familiarises the target audience with the brand identity created that would stay fresh in their minds which successfully markets the film towards them. They would also associate the brand with this typography in an eye-catching and effective way.

Colour Scheme My Product Existing Product

The colour scheme used in both my product and an existing product are mostly consistent colours of red and white that stand out and are conventional to the Post-Apocalyptic Horror genre. The use of the colour red is most prominent as it is bright and attractive that appeals to the target audience. It establishes the brand identity even further as the red is quickly associated with the themes of terror and violence in which I tried to incorporate into my products.

LayoutNew Product Existing Product

The layout presents a clear brand identity in the existing product as it successfully establishes the genre of the film and thataudience that it is trying to target through the use of the route of the eye, taglines and image which is similar to how I wanted to present my products. Both magazines and film posters use the centre to present the image which is most effective in attracting the target audience as they both present the themes of horror, violence and hopelessness. This is conventional of the genre and creates a brand identity that is related to the target audience.

The film trailers further establish the themes, plot and representation of the film to further create a brand identity that will help sell the film to the target audience. The audience can also clearly identify the tone of the film which is further emphasised through the use of other promotional methods such as the film poster and magazine cover. The trailers also set up the protagonists which helps further create an emotional and invested attachment between them and the target audience.

Representations For the existing film poster, the two protagonists are presented as children thus signifying them as weak and emphasises their innocence. This is also how they are represented throughout the film trailer which is conventional of the genre and overall creates a conventional brand identity. The use of dead bodies surrounding the two protagonists represents the themes of death and hopelessness thus appealing to the demographic of the Post-Apocalyptic Horror Genre.

In my film poster, the protagonists too are represented as weak and powerless within the poster and film trailer . The themes of death and hopelessness also run throughout both products therefore adding to the overall conventional brand identity that I am trying to create.

Summary All of the film posters, magazine covers and film trailers each clearly show the following representations, themes and forms such as:

Presenting the protagonists as weak and powerless

Portrays the themes of death and hopelessness

The use of low-key lighting presents a bleak and dark tone

Conventional Colour schemes e.g. red, white

Big, bold sans-serif fonts

Overall, my production has created a successful brand identity that relates to my target audience and which is similar to that of an existing product. This therefore makes the overall product professional and appealing to my target audience.
