This exciting project is the first of its kind where the restoration of neglected town centre woodlands or derelict land is converted into perfect pockets of tranquillity for three purposes. The support of children with special educational needs; the young disadvantaged, including those with disabilities and palliative care for the terminally ill.
We develop wonderful natural woodland retreats where these three audiences feel supported whilst improving the land to meet each other’s needs.
Our charity has recently obtained ownership of a very poor environmental site in the centre of Ipswich, which we aim to transform into an inspirational support centre. Our aim is to ensure that the success and experience of our Sudbury site volunteers and staff is reflected in this large Suffolk town.We will encourage, through local volunteer community action, to quickly and decisively change its terrible state into wonderful end-of-life retreat and disadvantaged children’s educational centre. Our actions and work with the disadvantaged & terminally ill in Sudbury, won us this years “Greenest Community in Suffolk” award
The new Ipswich site is between UCS suffolk and Alexandra park. UCS has been wonderful and have given us the land.

A cartoonist and best-selling author feels so strongly about litter on the county’s roads and spaces that he will walk across Suffolk dressed as a bin to encourage local authorities to take a more proactive approach. Charley Haylock will be raising funds for the proposed new cancer retreat in Ipswich which is currently an environmental disaster
As someone who is used to making his point visually, Mr Haylock will be dressed up as a litter basket with a trail of cans and tins behind him. I support Eden-Rose Coppice Trust, says Charley, they really care about the environment
