Company’s Coming on March 20! The Missions Ministry Team announces the second missionary presentation of the year in partial fulfillment of its function to keep the congregation informed about our worldwide evangelistic ministry. We are happy to again welcome our preacher on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, Mr. Mike Armstrong. He will be preaching during the 9:30 family gathering and then presenting an update on our campus ministry. A noon luncheon hosted by the Missions Ministry Team will follow the Bible classes. Anyone may contribute food and participate. Mike has been our campus minister in Fayetteville since the ministry began in 1982. Gene Frazier has been a

member of the ministry’s board for several years. Various people in our congregation have been involved with Christ on Campus when they were students. In addition to representing our campus ministry, Mike will also be promoting the Arkansas Christian Convention, for which he is serving this year as president. We will have registration forms available and will be asking you to register your support for the state convention, whether you are able to attend or not. If you know of any students at the University whom Mike could contact and involve in a Bible study or service for Christ, please provide their contact information to Mike.

When someone tells me he just left a large church in favor of our small church, several responses race through my mind. First, the size of a congregation is hardly a good basis upon which to choose where one will work and worship. Above every consideration is that Bible teaching is both proclaimed and practiced. But then I wonder when he will leave our congregation because we have grown too large. I want to tell people that it is our expressed intent to become a very large congregation. After all, the Lord’s commission is to make every person His disciple. And stewardship seems to dictate that a town of our size does not warrant maintaining multiple buildings with multiple sets of ministers. Having said that, I also recognize the attraction of

the small church, where everyone knows your name and you feel like part of a family. This is one of several myths to which many people have subscribed in discussions relating to the merits of a small or a large church.

We will dispel those myths at another time. For now, consider how the small church flavor and features may be cultivated as a church grows. Begin with the Sunday meeting. Don’t sit down until you have taken the initiative to speak to every individual. More than merely speaking, greet everyone by name. Force yourself to call each person by name. Advance to a deeper level by then discovering

who this person is. Show interest in his family, occupation and hobbies. Then introduce your new friend to one of your established friends, who will repeat this process. Soon the newcomer has met several people. Then cultivate and nurture the intimate family dynamic by becoming involved in smaller groups, such as Bible classes. Consider your class or small group activity as a small congregation within the larger one. Continually introduce new people to the small group and then create an additional small group. Expanding the number of small groups will help to maintain a small church atmosphere in a large church. To have a big church with a small church feel, we must build it that way. Start now!

Greg, a graduate of Johnson Bible College, is the new Associate Minister at First Christian Church. They have three children and have most recently ministered in Chattanooga, TN.

Fusion has been going on for over a month now and it has been an exciting ride! We’ve played board games and dodge ball. We’ve had group activities, relay races with interesting challenges, and delicious snacks to boot! Most important of all, we have seen relationships between older and younger brothers and sisters in Christ bud and blossom! Seasoned saints have gotten their kicks in kickball, folded themselves up on “turtles” and reached kids on their level. I get to hang out with the kids on a regular basis and have heard their reactions as you minister to them!

When inviting a friend to Fusion, one of our students said, “Our adults don’t bite! They’re AWESOME!” I hear Judy Truitt is a

Yahtzee Queen. A student who got to hang out with one of our elders told me that the elder was incredibly wise! While our congregation is full of “wise guys,” these are exactly the kind of connections

Fusion was designed to make! Let’s keep up the good work in ministering to our youth and nurturing the family relationships!

Increase your appreciation for the people at church. How well do you know the people with whom you share a pew?

1. Who was a flight attendant? 2. What married couple was born in the

same hospital on the same day? 3. What woman served in the U.S.A.F.?

1. Whose house was located 1,000 feet above his mailbox? Curtis Klos (lived on

a mountain in CO) 2. Who delivered mail in Viet Nam? Joe Harrell 3. Who managed the apartment complex in FL where Oak Ridge Boys tenor, Joe Bonsall, was a tenant? Beulah Bacigalupo

Courage: To do the right thing when wrong is so tempting, and to stand up for the right when some around you are proposing or acting wrong. To give more than is expected. To try, and try again. To change as we discover new truths, for this is gaining knowledge and wisdom. To take total responsibility for our actions, not rationalizing to excuse them. Commitment: To the will of God and the way of Christ. To live always to keep your honor, dependability and reputation at the highest level. To set and determine to reach a worthwhile goal. To think on the pure, kind, right, joyful, lovely and healthy; for as we think, we actually become. To constantly count our blessings, being thankful for them. Compassion: A sympathetic awareness of another's situation or condition with hope of being a help in some way, then sharing as best we can with sincere concern and love. We can share hope and affirmations, we can listen, encourage and share the power of truth and love, knowing that peace will come. Confession: To confess our sins to God and ask forgiveness. To admit to others when we have been wrong - to accept responsibility. To tell our loved ones often that we love

them. To recognize our faults and determine to rid ourselves of them as best we can. Compliment: To openly admire or commend the actions or traits of another. How very powerful the spoken word can be as we give approval. Find a good thing about a person; actions, words, looks, attitude or other, then tell them. Share a moment of approval, of agreement, admiration or of encouragement. Confidence: Belief, Faith, Certitude; without these, where do we go; what do we do? Our

self-assurance; belief that we are equal with anyone, not better, not worse, but with our own potential, our own areas of talent, skills, knowledge, and ignorance - just different from all others. We can

be confident that God wants us to know Him, and use the factors He has given us to do His will here. We love and forgive others that we may be forgiven, confident that all things are possible with Him. Comprehension: When we understand that every small choice we make each day molds us into the person we are, then we have progressed! We cannot hope to comprehend the mind of God, but when we accept His will and can truly say and mean "Your will be done" in all situations, then we have taken a giant step in the right direction.

Sunday Morning 9:30 Worship

11:00 Bible Classes

Wednesday Evening 5:30 Supper

6:30 Bible Classes

March 20 marks the date when we will begin an interactive course in the fundamentals of Christianity. Written by Bob Leinbaugh, Christian Education Administrator at Christ’s Mission Church in St. Robert, MO, “Discovering Christianity” addresses many basics of Christianity. It will benefit those who realize they don’t have a good grasp of Bible teaching. But it will also be a good refresher course for people who recognize there is material they missed in their early walk with God. We promise that

• Every participant — even those who have been attending church for years — will learn something new in every lesson.

• No participant will be asked to read aloud.

• No participant will be put on the spot by being asked a question.

Here is your opportunity to be in a class where no one assumes you know more than you really do. The material will be within the grasp of the least knowledgeable, yet challenging and fresh for those who think they have a fairly good understanding of Bible teaching. Participants will receive a fill-in-the blank worksheet for every lesson, extending the learning beyond the class period.

New Course Offered

Fri. & Sat., April 15 & 16 Fort Smith, AR

Contact Rick & Jan Schmeski if you want to participate in the joy of victory in this capital campaign.
