Reuse Retail Manager (Central)

We operate over 200 facilities in England, Scotland and Wales and employ around 2,500 employees. We recycle 1.2 million tonnes of waste each year.

Role Purpose

Responsibility for the day-to-day running of all Reuse shops and ancillary retail activities in the Central region.

Accountable for developing profitable performance through the motivation of both staff and volunteers.

Controlling all related legal and administrative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

To work with the centralised Reuse function to develop the business to achieve its maximum potential.

To manage the P&L for the Reuse business, including the development of the business in order to deliver the budgeted revenue.

To ensure that the facility is operated in line with all legislation including the Sales of Goods Act and WEEE regulations.

To ensure that the reporting processes relating to the facilities being a registered AATF are followed and to ensure that evidence of WEEE reuse is posted on the relevant bulletin board allowing FCC to receive the monetary value for WEEE Reuse evidence.

To manage and provide day to day guidance to shop staff so as to maximise profitability of the businesses and legislative compliance.

Inspire, motivate and lead Reuse shop managers by providing a stimulating and supportive environment.

Meet KPI, sales, cost and profit targets and deliver growth.

Provide excellent customer service.

To work with the contract operational team to ensure that Reuse capture is maximised across all of the HWRCs within the region.

To develop and promote Reuse auctions and internet trading sites.

Maintain excellent shop standards and comply with legal obligations.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures both personally and by all staff.

Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

At least 5 years retail experience, in a multi-site management capacity.

A good understanding of waste management practices.

Must have high attention to detail and be able to undertake and develop complex administrative and reporting systems.

Qualified to A Level standard or equivalent life experience.

Must have a high level of computer literacy, particularly must be skilled in the use of Excel and Word.

Thorough understanding of P&L’s and financial performance indicators.

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate performance through effective coaching skills.

Strong business acumen.

Highly organised with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Full driving licence.

Other information

Location – Based in the Central region, predominantly in the county of Staffordshire.

Reporting to – Area Operations Manager and a dotted line into the Reuse Development Manager.

Responsibility for – Reuse Operations and Retail employees.
