Just imagine how a child’s world is opened up to all the possibilities and joy that music can bring to their life! Then imagine that child playing the cello or the trombone for the first time. This is exactly what transpires at the Folsom Lake Symphony Family Concerts. Children and their families are treated to a youth-centric concert f o l l o w e d b y t h e popular Instrument “Petting Zoo,” where symphony musicians g i v e c h i l d r e n t h e opportunity to dream big w ith hands -on experience trying out d i f f e r e n t m u s i c a l instruments. For the past several years the Folsom Lake Sy m-phony has offered this low-cost admissionconcert to Sacramento-area families. In addition, hun-dreds of tickets have been awarded as scholarships to area children who otherwise might never have a symphony experience or the opportunity to play a musical instru-ment. It’s a musical adventure designed to entertain, educate and inspire the next generation of music lovers, music-makers and concertgoers!

�e symphony’s Music in our Schools outreach program offers performances by symphony musicians for local schoolchildren. For many of the youth, this is their �rst exposure to classical music. With the continuing trend to cut funding for the arts in our public schools, this program becomes even more valuable to our community.

�e senior engagement program in cooperation with several senior and assisted living communities in El Dorado and Sacramento counties provides a number of complimentary matinee concert tickets to residents. In addition, tickets are offered at a discounted price to their
