The City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards is an annual competition open to all emerging and professional artists in Western Australia.

Entries will be exhibited at The Agonis, Gosnells Town Centre, 2232 Albany Highway, Gosnells from Friday 5 May to Friday 12 May 2017.

Key dates Entries close: Monday 3 April 2017, 4pm

Delivery of artwork: Tuesday 2 May, 3pm – 6pm

Exhibition dates: Friday 5 May to Friday 12 May, 10am – 4pm daily

2. All entries will be eligible for the Overall Award (Acquisitive) and the Primewest People’s Choice Award.

3. All artworks accepted for exhibition will be judged. The judge’s decision is final. No correspondence or justification will be entered into.

4. To be eligible for the Local Artist Award the artist must live in the City of Gosnells.

5. Youth category is deemed as any person aged between 12 – 17 years inclusive at date of application.

General

1. It is the responsibility of the artist to provide insurance for their artwork/s. Artists understand that their artwork/s will be exhibited in a public venue and is therefore subject to risk. The City will exercise all due care but will not be responsible for any loss, damage or theft of any works.

2. Entrants agree to allow photography of their submitted artwork/s for publicity and promotional purposes by the City for a period of five (5) years. The City will attribute the artist wherever practical.

3. Due to limited exhibition space, the City reserves the right not to display all entries. Artists who are not successful will be notified and entry fees will be refunded.

4. City of Gosnells staff, Councillors and other personnel directly associated with the exhibition are permitted to participate and offer their artwork for sale, but shall be ineligible for any prize(s).

5. After a period of two (2) months from the collection date, uncollected artwork/s will become the property of the City, unless an extension in the collection period is granted by mutual written agreement of the parties.

6. Failure to meet any of the conditions of entry may exclude artists from the City’s Community Art Exhibition and Awards.

Conditions of entry Artwork(s) to enter

1. Maximum number of entries per artist is two (2).2. All artwork must be the original work of the artist

executed in the previous 12 months. 3. 2D artwork must not exceed 1.2m x 1.2m (including

frame) and must not weigh more than 10kgs. 3D artwork must not weigh more than 20kgs.

Entries

1. Entry forms must be received by 4pm on Monday 3 April 2017. Changes to entry forms will not be accepted after this date.

2. Entry forms must be accompanied by the entry fee. Entry fees are non-refundable.

3. All artwork must be suitably presented for display; 2D works must be dry with properly affixed cord or wire with ‘D’ rings to hold the works. For the purpose of hanging, adjustments may be made to the affixed ‘D’ rings on the frame.

4. Artwork must be clearly marked with title, category, artist name, telephone number and sale price (including 20% commission and GST if applicable). For 2D artwork, mark this information on the back at the bottom right hand corner. For 3D artwork, mark this information on a separate card.

Sales

1. The City of Gosnells will take 20% commission from the sale price.

2. If the artist has an ABN and is registered for GST, GST must be included in the sale price.

3. If an artist sells their work and has an ABN, they must provide the City with a tax invoice prior to payment. If the artist does not have an ABN and deems themselves to be a ‘Hobbyist’, they must provide a completed ATO Statement by Supplier form prior to payment.

Categories

1. The winning entry for the Overall Award (Acquisitive) category becomes the property of the City of Gosnells even if the artwork/s is indicated as not for sale. The artist must accept that if the sale price is more than the prize money, the artist must accept the latter.
