CAREER OPPORTUNITY TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER Department: External Affairs Reports to: Vice President of External Affairs Location: Dallas Arts District Position Available: Immediately The Communications Manager is responsible for oversight of the creation, distribution, branding and quality of the internal and external institutional communications for the nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center. Responsibilities include: Plan, write and edit the Center’s electronic newsletter DEBUT, creative clickable, shareable videos and stories that raise awareness of the Center’s nonprofit initiatives, programs, performances and events. Working closely with cross- department staff, identify stories that will resonate with audiences. Track and report on metrics that demonstrate the efficacy of these efforts. Work with team to provide all content for the Center’s annual report, assisting in the project management of the piece and providing input about the style, direction and layout. Strategize, create and update collaterals to highlight the Center’s new and existing educational and free programs to be used for the general public and as a donation tool. Work with the marketing department to draft and schedule social media posts, show descriptions, curtain speeches and serve as a key content provider for all Center initiatives as needed. Research opportunities for executive leadership to speak to the community about the Center and schedule engagements throughout the year. Working primarily with the President & CEO and the Vice President of External Affairs, craft engaging public and internal presentations, effective talking points and tailored remarks. Create letters and remarks on behalf of the President & CEO for communications with a variety of stakeholders.

• Establish guidelines for all Center speakers, train them on best practices and provide them with tools to be successful.

• Manage and maintain Center’s style guide to provide consistency across all platforms. Train new staff as needed on protocols.

• Working with Human Resources, help to create internal communications to keep the staff apprised of new information, aid in morale and productivity and create a more satisfying workplace for employees. Help plan the content for staff meetings and ensure timely follow-up.

• Coordinate all participants engaged in the creation and distribution of the collateral materials including graphic designers, photographers, videographers, translators, writers, etc.

• Assist in the management of and presentation needs for some committees within the Center’s Board of Directors, including the Education & Community Engagement Committee.

• Plan and facilitate specific aspects of special projects, education programs, tasks and events as needed.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, etc. Experience:

• Minimum of five years of experience in field

• Proficient with Associated Press style

• Experience with social media for businesses/nonprofits

• Ability to tell a story using visual elements, e.g. photographs and fonts

• Prior experience with mail2 or similar e-mail marketing technology

• Knowledge of Tessitura or similar technology is helpful Skills:

• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills

• Unique voice that aligns with company brand

• Self-starter with ability to make the position his/her own

• Strong knowledge of digital marketing trends

• Attention to metrics and outcomes

• Ability to calmly manage a variety of tasks concurrently

• Firm adherence to deadlines

• Excellent ability to perform well under pressure and with limited time

• Professional appearance and behavior

• Works successfully both independently and collaboratively
