tion was filed by the Michigan Stat© Telephone company with the Michigan Railroad Commission on the 7th day of January , 1919, for authori ty to stan­dardize the rates of said Telephone company and wh^ch in effect increases the ra tes of the Telephone com- i pany in this city, and in every c';ty and village in the State of Mich­igan outside of the city of Detroit, the increase in the state amount ing to $600,000 which additional sum the people will be required to pay for this service, and

Whereas , the hearing on saM peti­tion was fixed by the Railroad Com­mission at Lansing on the 21st day of January , at 10:00 o'clock, a. m., and

Whereas , on the 7th of January , 19^9, at the city of Lansing, represen-ta ives of nearly every city effected by this raise in telephone rates met for the purpose of organization and c .•>-operation in an effort to protect ihe in­terests of the different cities and vil­lages of the state, and to oppose ihe petition of the Telephone company. and
