House Hello fellow members I hope everyone is doing fine during this surreal time we are in I wish we could all be together racing and trading stories of being out on the water during TGIF It seems so long ago and such a privilege I do believe when things turn to ldquonormalrdquo we will have a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for our club and our memberrsquos

social interactions As you probably know by now we do plan to reopen Friday May 15 and conduct a general meeting on the 20th Unfortunately it will not be business as usual or ldquonormalrdquo We have taken precautions by disbursing tables and chairs to facilitate social distancing I donrsquot expect a large crowd to start with There are those in the club who feel more comfortable interacting with others and this opening is for them It is an individual choice and again as everyone knows if you feel sick or have other medical issues or just feel uncomfortable I recommend exercising your free will not to come The club will be there when you do decide to come and feel comfortable joining us

To help prepare for the reopening of the club we have been in contact with the janitorial service and they have been coming in and doing a thorough job wiping touch surfaces chairs and keeping the bathrooms clean We have arranged for them to do an antiviral fogging of the club see example picture below Depending on the date of publication of this article the janitor has probably done two foggings one prior to Friday May 15th and one before the General meeting on May 20th Tim has worked out a procedure on how to serve drinks and minimize interaction with the bar tenders Seating at the bar will not be allowed Tables and chairs have been moved to the upstairs and seating on the back porch has been spread out I am sure the crowd will be small and somewhat subdued but it is a start and its effectiveness will be evaluated

In the meantime stay safe

Robert Scott MYC Director of House Vice Commodore

Fleet

Hello to everyone I hope that you are all staying both safe and sane

Following the Board of Directors decision to cautiously open the clubs activities again the

following race series will be held But please adhere to social distancing guidelines and good

ol common sense as you participate both afloat and ashore And remember that these races are currently meant to be safe fun and minimally competitive This is not the time to

break out the Whomper and old IOR-12 person crews These are our best ways to get sailors

and racers back out on the water in a safe manner We expect that boats will have minimal crew Also these

events will require minimal race committee and shore-side support for their safety too

1) Rum Races - the first race will be Friday May 15 They will follow the regular schedule after that

2) Small Boat Sundays - Dates to be determined and announced but the series will resume

3) Full Moon Series - Resumes Friday June 5th

Please note that past events this spring are lost We wont host make-ups Also there will be no penalty for boats that dont participate in these reactivated series We respect each skippers decision to race or not race

and will ensure that all scoring will not penalize non-participation

One potential positive from this pandemic is a couple of new events for offshore and distance races in the local

area Please stay tuned as we work out the details

I hope that were back to normal in the near future but until then lets enjoy what we have and support each

other and the club the best that we can

See you on the water
