The amount of contributions from all sources shows a slight increase over the preceding year.

The Committee most gratefully acknowledge the receipt of a sum of £234 19s. lOd. from the Hospital Sunday Fund, and hereby tender their sincere and hearty thanks to the Eev. J. D . Kobertson, as the H o n . Jhe sum of £ 4 0 was also collected on Hospital Sunday in the Koman_Catholic_ Churches, and forwarded direct to the Secretary through the Ven. Archdeacon Slattery, to w h o m the Committee of the Hospital feel indebted for such liberal support to its Funds.

Legacies from • deceased Patients to the amount of £61 8s. 5d. have likewise been received.

have undergone a thorough repair. The front outer walls have been •—pointed, and the triennial repairs and cleaning have been carried

out. A new Lodge for a gate keeper has been erected at the entrance in Ryrie Street.

„ , In April last Miss Shaw resigned her position as Matron of the Institution, and Miss O'Meagher, from the Ballarat Hospital, was selected from 18 applicants to fill the vacancy. In the following

«™ month M r . Peterson, from the Children's Hospital in Melbourne, was elected as Dispenser and House Steward, in the place of M r . Marrison, w h o had resigned the appointment.

During the past year Mrs. Hitchcock, assisted by other ladies, has successfully established a " Flower Mission " to the Hospital, and weekly bouquets are distributed among the Inmates of the various Wards, which are most gratefully received, and the Committee acknowledge such kind and delicate attention with very much pleasure.

The thanks of the Committee are also hereby tendered to the "*" Clergy of all denominations and other friends w h o hold services,

and give religious instruction to the Patients; also to the generous donors w h o remember the Inmates by contributions of books,

—• papers, fruit, & c , not forgetting the kind services of the Geelong Young Men ' s Association and others, who, by entertainments, musical and otherwise, have contributed greatly to the amusement

«*. and entertainment of the Benevolent Inmates.

There have been held during the year 17 meetings of the General Committee of Management, besides 77 meetings of the various

' Sub-Committees. The attendance of members is given on a separate page. The retiring members of the Committee are those appointed since the last Annual Meeting, and are Messrs. A . M . Campbell, C . Caldwell, R . Gillespie, and J. Wighton; together with the Rev. J. D . Robertson and M r . Connor, w h o were balloted for with the remainder of those members w h o had been longest on the Committee.

The Committee has satisfaction in stating that the various departments of the Institution work harmoniously, and that the Officers discharge their duties satisfactorily. They commend the Institution to the Subscribers as one which continues to merit their support, in consideration of the amount of suffering and distress

. which it is the means of alleviating, and of the Asylum it affords to so m a n y of the aged and destitute w h o would otherwise be in absolute want.
