There is much in current news about millennials and how they operate.
Because you are parents of millennials, I’m sure you could write such articles
yourselves!
Although there is often negative press around the attitude of youth, our expe-
rience of children and youth is often inspiring and encouraging. The students
at Plenty Valley are generally a group who love life and even love learning at
times!
There are, however, many difficulties that our young people face today, that
are unique to this time in history. Never before have relationships been quite
so complex. We know that due to our digital connectedness, our young peo-
ple are actually more isolated than ever. We know that when things are not
going well at school, there is no respite when they get home, as social media
continues to feed conversations and negativity.
This has an affect, and as a school, like every other school, our students are
facing these difficulties and some are really struggling. Today’s young people
don’t always know how to cope and so use a variety of coping strategies –
some of which can appear distressing to others. We have students who suffer
from anxiety and depression, and sometimes they hurt themselves in various
ways, including cutting. We have students who take substances that are bad
for them and we have students who watch things online that are harmful.
It can sometimes be hard to understand these behaviours, but as a school, we
are constantly updating our training and skills to ensure that we can provide
the best support to our community.
You may be facing some of these hard situations within your family and we
want you to know that we partner with you in this school life journey, through
the good and the not so good.
There are many resources available to assist, and I particularly recommend Be You (https://beyou.edu.au/). This website is full of resources to assist young people who are facing difficulties, and their families who walk with them. Above all, we continue to pray for our students, and families. We know that
Jesus didn’t shy away from the messy situations in life and spent time with
people whom society rejected. He loved them then, as he loves us today.
If your child is having difficulties, please keep talking with us. Homeroom

UNIFORM CHANGE-OVER
Summer uniform period is Terms 1 and 4.
There will be a three-week overlapping
period for wearing summer and winter
uniform depending on the weather, at
the student's discretion. This will only be
at the beginning of Terms 2 and 4.
Which means students are expected to
be in full summer uniform starting on Monday, October 28th.
In Terms 1 & 4 the wearing of the College sun hat is compulsory when undertaking lessons outdoors in
direct sunlight, including specified Physical Education classes or sport events. Primary students must also
wear the hat while outdoors during recess and lunchtimes. Click here to read the full Uniform Policy.
teachers, year level coordinators and Heads of Sub-School need to be informed so that they can provide
the best care for our children.
Life is indeed a journey of ups, downs and some bumps along the way, but our Heavenly Father walks
with us through it all.

The Parents and Friends Group would like to invite you again this year to purchase a very special interactive Advent Calendar for your family.
While it doesn’t seem right to be talking about Christmas yet, you only have a couple of weeks to order your calendar to ensure it gets delivered to the school by the end of November.
These locally made, beautifully illustrated Interactive Advent Calendars come to life with your smart device. They also feature a daily Christmas Bible reading and 25 quality, Christmas themed, couverture chocolate pieces.
The cost of the calendars is $12.00 each with $2.00 from every purchase being donated to the Parents and Friends Group.
To order, go to www.reason4season.com.au and click on ‘group order’ where you’ll be directed to place your name, the school name and your child’s name and class.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the P & F parents as they provide events and support for the students and families of the College.

COMPANY MEETING
Do you support The Vision and Values of the College and desire to serve our
community through an active membership of the PVCE Company?
Then why not join in at the next company meeting on Wednesday November
20th, 7:30 pm at Plenty Valley Christian College.
This meeting will be held in rooms 211 & 212 next to the Multi Purpose Hall.
You can drive and park at the rear of the Multi Purpose Hall by using the bus shelter road that leads to
the back of the hall. All families are welcome to attend.
Your attendance at this meeting will count as Parent Participation (3 hours per family).
MEDICATION AT SCHOOL
With hay fever hitting with force this week, a timely reminder of the
College Medication Policy.
The full policy can be viewed on SEQTA.
If your child requires medication whilst at school:
Medication is to be kept in the Administration Office (Years 3 -
12)
Early Years Reception (Years Prep – 2)
Medication should be provided in its original container, clearly labelled with the students name and
instructions for administration.
Paracetamol is available at school for emergency use only. If your child requires ongoing pain relief,
please provide this to the appropriate office, in its original container with clear instructions for admin-
istration.
If a parent of a secondary student has given consent (via the medical information form) for their child to
be administered paracetamol, parents will not be contacted prior to administration.
Primary students will not be administered paracetamol without first speaking to a parent.
Anti-histamine is available at school for emergency use only. No student will be administered anti-
histamine without parental consent. (This does not apply to students with current allergy/anaphylaxis
action plans).
If senior students are carrying medication with them, I ask that parents please remind them not to share
with their friends as this can have a dangerous and potentially fatal outcomes.
Please provide current information regarding any prescription medication your child is taking. This is
required in case of emergency.
Please contact me between 10.30am and 2.30 pm daily if you have any questions or concerns.

Junior Softball & T-ball Clinic Day
Thanks to government Sport School funding, the Year 3 to 6 students will get to have a 3 week clinic. The
Junior school students will be focusing on Strike & Field sports this term, with the Year 3/4 students
having a T-Ball clinic and the Year 5/6 students having a Softball clinic.
This is a great opportunity for the students to receive expert coaching from an external instructor and de-
velop a deeper understanding of Strike & Field sports. The clinics will be running in week 4, 6 & 7, within
the P.E timetable.
Kinder & Early Years Sports Carnival
On Friday October 11th the Year 6 students facilitated the Kinder/Prep and Year 1/2 Sport Carnivals. This
was a great way for all students involved to take ‘Action’ and for the Year 6 students to share their
learning from their Physical Education Exhibition, with the school community. Class 6N was in charge of
the Kinder & Prep carnival from 11am-12pm and class 6G was in charge of the Year 1/2 carnival from
1:50-3:10pm.
All of the Year 6 students showed great leadership to the younger students, by encouraging and
supporting them in the games they had investigated and planned. The Prep & year 1/2 students demon-
strated their learning from Physical Education this year, while the Kinder students had a chance to
practice for next year when they are in Prep. Well done to all students involved!
