–Make sure everyone is aware that breaking foam releases methane and may be dangerous in confined spaces
Safety in Power Washing a Foaming Pit
• Prior to anyone entering the building– Turn off gas line OUTSIDE of the building– Shut off electric to feed lines– Run Stage 2 or higher ventilation for at least 30 minutes
• Knock down the foam with water– NO furnaces operating– Stage 2 or higher ventilation operating
• To relight furnaces– Wait for 30 minutes of Stage 2 or higher ventilation after knock‐down

• Spark ignition furnaces – turn off power
– Shut off electric to room (other than fans) if possible
– Run Stage 2 or higher ventilation for at least 30 minutes
• ALWAYS operate ventilation system for dilution of methane
