Pasco County Office of Tourism Development (OTD)

Strategy: Establish a program of strategies and incentives to preserve, enhance, and expand the tourism industry.

Department:

• “We have added the Florida Circumnavigation/Blue ways Trail and kayak and boat launch sites to the FWC Fishing Map.”

• “OTD funds activities and events in the Harbors District such as ChascoFiesta, Paddleplaozza and Pasco Ecofest which are regional draws to the area and have produced a record of overnight room stays and economic impact for the area.

Pasco County Stormwater Department

Strategy: Develop an effective public education program to inform residents about the importance of drainage easements, self-maintenance of existing stormwater systems and sustainable stormwater practices to reduce/prevent flooding.

Department: “On-going community educational program for stormwater management and practices to include literature brochures, pamphlets and videos viewable on the Pasco County website, seminars, and technical Horizontal Round Table meetings with the local private engineering consultants for exchange of ideas and recommendations.”

Pasco County District School Board

Strategy: Work with schools and local farmers to promote and implement

Florida "Farm to School" Program which incorporates locally grown

produce into school meals.

Department: “The District School Board is participating in Farm to School

programs throughout Florida, and currently utilize Kumquats

from Pasco County. Additional locally grown produce will be

added as it as available and cost effective. “

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office

Strategy: Coordinate with the Sheriff’s Office and neighborhoods to enhance and expand Neighborhood Crime Watches and the Security Patrol Programs.

Department: “The Pasco Sheriff's Office has nearly doubled the average number of crime prevention public speaking engagements in a typical month utilizing crime prevention corporals and reserves. Several neighborhood watch start-up meetings were attended by Community Relations and patrol staff, and district commanders attended numerous civic and community association meetings.”

Pinellas /Pasco County Line to S.R. 52This $28 million project consists of repaving U.S. 19 between the

Pinellas/Pasco County Line and S.R. 52. This 7.3 mile project is anticipated to

be complete in summer of 2015.

S.R. 52 to Pasco/Hernando County LineThis $25.5 million project includes modifying medians and adding pavement on

U.S. 19, making existing right-turn lanes continuous between S.R. 52 and New

York Avenue, approximately 8.1 miles. The project is anticipated to be complete in

the fall of 2015.

District 7 Highway Landscape Reimbursement (HLR): ($545,000)

Pasco County applied for HLR which is limited to FDOT highways within Districts 7.

The HLR Grant provides reimbursable funding for landscape design and

installation along State roadways within the district. The grant was applied for the

unincorporated sections of U.S. 19 within Pasco County.

Florida Highway Beautification Council Grant (FHBCG): ($200.000)

Pasco County will be applying for the FHBCG, which is a statewide competitive

grant that is awarded by a council appointed by the Governor. The grant

applications are awarded based on rankings by the council that is predicated on

the scoring of adherence to ten grant attributes. This is a 50/50 matching grant
