MISSION STATEMENT Columbia Art Center is dedicated to providing artisticexperiences in the visual arts for all ages and interest levels and connecting with localart organizations and community businesses in creating diverse offerings.

OVERVIEWColumbia Art Center offers year-round art classes, rotating galleryexhibitions, a gallery gift shop, summer art camp for children, art birthday parties,studio rentals, a Japanese Garden, art and life enhancement lectures, and more!Columbia Art Center is part of Columbia Association’s Community ServicesDivision. Under Columbia Association, Columbia Art Center is 28 years old, but ithas been a functioning arts school for more than 40 years. It was formerly known asthe Antioch Visual Arts Center.

LOCATION Columbia Art Center is located in the Long Reach Village Center (nextto Stonehouse Community Center) just minutes from Route 175 and Tamar Drive.

DIRECTIONS From Route 29, take 175 East towards Jessup. Follow 175 forseveral miles to the light at Tamar Drive. Turn left on Tamar and go one mile. Turn right on Cloudleap Court. Turn left into Long Reach Village Center parkinglot. The Art Center is located in the courtyard (look for the large round window).From I-95, take the MD 100 West exit (43B) towards Ellicott City. Take theSnowden River Exit (3). Enter the roundabout and take the second exit ontoSnowden River Parkway. Turn right on Tamar Drive and drive .5 miles. Turn left at Cloudleap Court. RENTALSNew gallery rental opportunity for summer months! Attention artists: If you would like to showcase your art and hold your own reception in a

professional gallery setting, then here is an opportunity for you. Columbia Art Center now

provides gallery space for rent during July and August. For a reasonable rate, you are welcome

to rent the Main Gallery for one to two week s, install your own show and host your own reception.

Invite family, friends, community members, press, and art collectors. For more details and

School’s Out Program for grades 1-8

When Howard County public schools are out, come to the Art Center for an amazing day of creative fun andgo home with cool art projects. Bring a friend, make new friends, pack a lunch, and enjoy a fun day of art!Children will be served a snack and beverage after 3:30pm. Registration can be taken until the day before theSchool’s Out date. The program lessons will be available to view a month before each date.

artcampArt Camp provides exciting avenues of creativity and discoveryto every camper in a healthy and safe environment. Each weekhas a unique theme to promote diverse and entertainingprojects for each camp session. Campers experiment withcolors, textures, mediums and performance methods throughdaily projects and lessons. Art Specialists teach visual andperforming arts processes, including printmaking, painting,three-dimensional design, collage, drawing, clay works,puppetry, skit creation and much more. The young artists areencouraged to explore their imaginations and develop theirown style of artistic expression. Additional programmingincludes Zumba® dance class, daily outdoor recreation time,swimming once a week and other performance relatedactivities. There will be a special collaborative camp project or show at the end of each one-week session.

The play presents a differentperspective on the tragedy, focusing on key players andrescue efforts surrounding the tragedy. Marshall will shareunique history about the Titanic as you are taken on amoving journey directly over the wreck site of the Titanic.

Monday, June 8, 7pmSeth Kibel, Musician: The Origins of Jazz Enjoy an evening of music and discussion which focuses onthe early decades of music now called jazz. The discussionwill focus on New Orleans where multiple ethnicities andseveral musical traditions converged to give birth to thisuniquely American musical genre. Class Policies& ProceduresINCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY If Howard County public schools are closed due

to inclement weather, the Columbia Art Center will not hold daytime adult classes or any youth

classes. For information regarding adult afternoon and evening classes and all weekend classes,

please call the Columbia Art Center at 410-730-0075.

DISCOUNTS Individuals who live or work full-time on Columbia Association assessed prop-

erty pay the discounted “Resident “ tuition for classes. All others must pay the “Non-Resident “

tuition. Access to CA facilities and programs may be denied to a Columbia Resident (member or

non-member) whose property is the subject of a covenant violation referred to the Architectural

Resource Committee for Action.

SUPPLIES Adult students are responsible for purchasing their own materials for most

classes. Refer to course description for clarification or call Columbia Art Center for additional

information. A supply list for adult classes will be supplied upon registration.

CANCELLATION AND TUITION REFUNDS Columbia Art Center reserves the

right to cancel any class for any reason. In the event the Art Center must cancel a class, refund of

tuition is guaranteed. Tuition cannot be credited, prorated or refunded after the first day of

class. No prorated tuitions will be given; full tuition is required. If you have any questions about

the content or focus of the class, please contact Columbia Art Center before the class begins.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY Columbia Art Center has a zero tolerance policy for class

disruption and aggression towards staff, instructors, students and visitors. Any type of aggressive

behavior may be grounds for removal from Columbia Art Center. Columbia Art Center reserves

the right to suspend or terminate class participation and usage of Columbia Art Center for

inappropriate or abusive behavior or class disruption. No credits or refunds will be granted.

meetings, lectures, art project rentals, birthday parties and celebrations of all sorts, even small weddings. Colum-

bia Art Center provides tables and chairs. Room setup and take down are responsibility of renter. Please allow set-

up and take-down time in your rental timeframe. For an additional fee, Columbia Art Center can set up room.
