MISSION STATEMENT Columbia Art Center is dedicated to providing artisticexperiences in the visual arts for all ages and interest levels and to connect with localarts organizations and community businesses in creating diverse offerings.

OVERVIEWColumbia Art Center offers year-round art classes, rotating galleryexhibitions, a gallery gift shop, summer art camp for children, art birthday parties,studio rentals, a Japanese Garden, art and life enhancement lectures and more!Columbia Art Center is part of Columbia Association’s Community ServicesDivision and has been part of Columbia Association for 29 years. It has been afunctioning arts school for more than 30 years and was formerly known as theAntioch Visual Arts College.

LOCATION Columbia Art Center is located in the Long Reach Village Center (nextto Stonehouse Community Center) just minutes from Route 175 and Tamar Drive.

DIRECTIONS From Route 29, take 175 East towards Jessup. Follow 175 forseveral miles to the light at Tamar Drive. Turn left on Tamar and go one mile. Turnright on Cloudleap Court. Turn left into Long Reach Village Center parking lot.The Art Center is located in the courtyard (look for the large round window andfish sculpture). From I-95, take the MD-100 West exit (43B) towards Ellicott City.Take the Snowden River Exit (3). Enter the roundabout and take the second exitonto Snowden River Parkway. Turn right on Tamar Drive and drive .5 miles. Turnleft at Cloudleap Court. Park in the Long Reach Village Center lot on the left.

The discussion will start withNew Orleans where multiple ethnicities andseveral musical traditions all converged to givebirth to this uniquely American musical genre.You will then travel to Chicago in the 1920s and wind up in New York, which ultimatelybecomes the epicenter of jazz from the 1930s up until the present day. RENTALSNew gallery rental opportunity for summer months! Attention artists: If you would like to showcase your art and hold your own reception in a

professional gallery setting, then here is an opportunity for you. Columbia Art Center now

provides gallery space for rent during July and August. For a reasonable rate, you are welcome

to rent the Main Gallery for one to two week s, install your own show and host your own reception.

Invite family, friends, community members, press, and art collectors. For more details and

availability, call Columbia Art Center at 410-730-0075.

ArtcampArt Camp provides exciting avenues of creativity and discovery to every camper in a healthyand safe environment. Each week has a unique theme to promote diverse and entertainingprojects for each camp session. Campers experiment with colors, textures, mediums andperformance methods through daily projects and lessons. Art Specialists teach visual andperforming arts processes, including printmaking, painting, three-dimensional design, collage,drawing, clay works, puppetry, skit creation and much more. The young artists areencouraged to explore their imaginations and develop their own style of artistic expression.Additional programming includes Zumba® dance class, daily outdoor recreation time,swimming once a week and other performance related activities. There will be a specialcollaborative camp project or showcase at the end of each 1-week session.

Class Policies& ProceduresINCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY If Howard County public schools are closed due

to inclement weather, the Columbia Art Center will not hold daytime adult classes or any youth

classes. For information regarding adult afternoon and evening classes and all weekend classes,

please call the Columbia Art Center at 410-730-0075.

DISCOUNTS Individuals who live or work full-time on Columbia Association assessed prop-

erty pay the discounted “Resident “ tuition for classes. All others must pay the “Non-Resident “

tuition. Access to CA facilities and programs may be denied to a Columbia Resident (member or

non-member) whose property is the subject of a covenant violation referred to the Architectural

Resource Committee for Action.

SUPPLIES Adult students are responsible for purchasing their own materials for most

classes. Refer to course description for clarification or call Columbia Art Center for additional

information. A supply list for adult classes will be supplied upon registration.

CANCELLATION AND TUITION REFUNDS Columbia Art Center reserves the

right to cancel any class for any reason. In the event the Art Center must cancel a class, refund of

tuition is guaranteed. Tuition cannot be credited, prorated or refunded after the first day of

class. No prorated tuitions will be given; full tuition is required. If you have any questions about

the content or focus of the class, please contact Columbia Art Center before the class begins.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY Columbia Art Center has a zero tolerance policy for class

disruption and aggression towards staff, instructors, students and visitors. Any type of aggressive

behavior may be grounds for removal from Columbia Art Center. Columbia Art Center reserves

the right to suspend or terminate class participation and usage of Columbia Art Center for

inappropriate or abusive behavior or class disruption. No credits or refunds will be granted.

meetings, lectures, art project rentals, birthday parties and celebrations of all sorts, even small weddings. Colum-

bia Art Center provides tables and chairs. Room setup and take down are responsibility of renter. Please allow set-

up and take-down time in your rental timeframe. For an additional fee, Columbia Art Center can set up room.

Registration&AdmissionAdmission is open to everyone. Advanced registration is required and early enrollment is advised to reserve a space in each classand to avoid possible cancellation. A class will be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met three days prior to the class begin-ning. Several classes have pre-requisites. Please read course descriptions carefully.
