– Do NOT put colons between verbs/prepositions and their objects!

• Before a long, formal statement or quotation– Generally for quotes longer than four lines
(they are separated out anyway…)
• When explaining or clarifying a preceding statement– Eggplants are awesome: they can be roasted,
fried, or sautéed and they always taste great.
