COMMUNITY UPDATES / UPCOMING EVENTS WOMEN’S WORKSHOP
Save the date for the next workshop planned for Mon., Mar. 23 from
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
MOV LADIES DAY
The annual MOV Ladies Day is planned for Sat., April 18. Celine
Sparks, the contributing editor of humor for Christian Woman
magazine, will be the speaker. A planning meeting will be held on
Thurs., March 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lubeck building. All women
who wish to be involved are invited to attend. There will be
refreshments and a short meeting. More information about the
Ladies Day is posted on the office foyer bulletin board.
CHRISTIAN LIFE IN A TECH WORLD
On Mar. 21 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Dr. Patrick Ward and Steve
Cunningham will lead a seminar at the Grand Central Church of
Christ for parents and teens regarding the opportunities and
struggles that go along with technology and being a follower of
Christ. See office foyer bulletin board for more information.
JUNIOR YOUTH RALLY
Treasure Seekers is the theme and Travis Williams will be the
speaker for a Junior Youth Rally on April 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. at the Grand Central Church of Christ. The day will be filled
with fun: games, creative stations, treasure hunt, crazy actors,
classes, pizza and a whole lot more! The cost is $15.00 which
includes a T-shirt and lunch. Register by April 17, 2015. See flyer
and sign-up on the office foyer bulletin board.
JAMAICAN MISSION TRIP
The Jamaica mission team is going to Lluidas Vale, Jamaica this
summer. Lluidas Vale is up in the mountains of Jamaica in St.
Cathrine Parish. We are going July 16-25. We will be working with 2
congregations, the Barnes Pen congregation and the Tydixon
congregation. We will be conducting home Bible studies, 4 day
Vacation Bible Schools and a crusade in the evenings. We will be
doing repairs on the building in Tydixon. We have 2 houses
reserved for 16 people, 8 in each house. The cost for the team from
Belpre is $900.00 per person. If you would be interested in going
please see Mary Ann Thorn. If you are interested in doing mission
work but have not made a commitment in the past, this is a good
place to get started. We would love to have you join us.
MAIL REMINDER
If you wish to send a card to a Belpre family member that attend
services, leave them in the card holders in either carport or office
foyer and the cards will be delivered within the building.
MOV WORKCAMP FUNDRAISER
Check out the poster in the office hallway and grab an envelope,
follow instructions, and help sponsor MOV Work Camp.
NEW BULLETIN FORMAT
Within a few weeks, the new bulletin will be ready to pass out to you.
At that time, please refer to the Family News sheet placed on foyer
tables, for all prayer requests, upcoming events and
announcements and ministry news. The new bulletin is streamlined
to best serve our visitors as they come in to worship with us. We
appreciate your kind understanding as this transition is made.
COURAGE TO CHANGE
The Courage to Change ministry will begin their special speaker
meetings on the third Thursday of the month starting March 19,
2015. The first guest speaker we have scheduled is
Brett Hower, our student intern. He will be speaking about the
book Gods at War by Kevin Idleman. He will tell how reading this
book changed his concept of sin and changed his thinking about
spiritual matters. Several of us have read this book and highly
recommend it. We have three copies available to borrow from
the Courage to Change resource room. Join us March 19 to hear
Brett. If you would like to borrow the book, see Mary Ann Thorn.
LOVE IN ACTION
We want to thank all of our volunteers again. You guys are the
greatest! Many in our community have been helped the past
few months with utility bills and food. Acts of love are being
done daily in our church family. Mark Batterson stated, "We are
told to pray about everything, but we can’t just pray like all
depends on God. We also must work like it depends on
US. When Christianity turns into a noun, it becomes a turnoff.
Christianity was always intended to be a verb — more
specifically, an ACTION verb. The title of the book of Acts says it
all, doesn’t it? It’s not the book of Ideas or Words. It’s the book
of Acts. And if we said less and did more, I believe we would
have the same kind of impact the first-century church had. When
everything is said and done, God won’t say, “Well said, good and
faithful servant.” He won’t say, “Well thought,” “well planned,” or
even “well prayed.” There is only one commendation He will give:
“Well DONE good and faithful servant.”
