did you know? • In September 2017 the final steel beam was placed within the Ed Kaplan Family

Institute for Innovation and Tech Entrepreneurship, currently under construction. Designed by acclaimed architect and Illinois Tech Professor of Architecture John Ronan, the Kaplan Institute is projected to open in late 2018.

• In 2017 PayScale ranked Illinois Tech #1 in Illinois and #75 in the United States among universities for the salary potential of its graduates who earn a bachelor’s degree.

• The cell phone, magnetic recording, tall building architecture, and barcode technology are just a few of the innovations associated with Illinois Tech faculty and alumni.

• S. R. Crown Hall, home to Illinois Tech’s College of Architecture, is a National Historic Landmark—and is considered by many to be one of the iconic buildings designed by legendary architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

• A total of 25 National Science Foundation CAREER Awards have been given to faculty members including two awards in 2017. One researcher was also the recipient of a U.S. Air Force Young Investigator Research Program grant.

• In 2016 the Robert A. Pritzker Science Center (formerly Life Sciences Building) was dedicated.

• The Master of Science in Finance Program at Stuart School of Business is ranked 5th in the nation and 42nd in the world by the Financial Times.

• Nayar Prize I was established in 2015 to recognize innovations developed by Illinois Tech faculty, staff, and students that have a meaningful societal impact. Nayar Prize II was added in 2016. Faculty teams are participating in both prize competitions in 2017.

Pritzker Institute of Biomedical Science and Engineering is an umbrella organization that enhances the biomedical science and engineering research activities at Illinois Tech.

Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) is an umbrella organization that joins energy and sustainability research with educational activities across the colleges and institutes at Illinois Tech.

IIT Research Institute (IITRI) is an independent, not-for-profit, contract research organization focusing on the life sciences.
