Automated Collection• Four Automated Trucks & a Rural

Satellite Truck

• Collect garbage 5 days per week.

• Each truck is operated by a single driver, who services 1000-1200 containers each day.

• Residents are provided with 1-64 gallon container and for a fee, may request a 2nd

container.

Brush Collection• Monday-Friday

• The Grapple Truck is an operational vehicle that collects large brush and heavy bulky items curbside.

• The Open-Top (roll-off) Truck is used to haul brush to BVSWMA, Inc. for composting.

Bulk Collection• Collected through the use of 2

rear end loaders or grapple truck for large/heavy items.

• Each truck services 1,900 homes per day, 5 days per week.

• 2-3 FTE’s occupy this vehicle.

Established in 1991, after successful Pilot Program.

Services provided through one, 5yr Franchise Agreement with a Private Contractor selected through RFP Process.

Texas Commercial Waste (TCW), is the current contractor. Contract expires – 9/30/2015.

Continuously researching expansion options and material markets. • Pilot Program to determine Single Stream’s effectiveness for

possible implementation.• Include both proposal options (single stream/source

separated) in our RFP process this coming Spring.• Continue Franchising Private Collections for Apartment and

• 300 Emerald Forest Homes• Received carts 1/20-23• First bi-weekly collection 2/2• Same materials, adding cardboard and

paperboard• Statistically the presence of a cart creates routine

recycling, increasing both participation and diversion.• Achieving increased volumes due to convenience.

The purpose of this pilot is to determine the effectiveness of single stream recycling.

• Projected Timeline – 6 months• Will we divert more material from Twin Oaks Landfill?• What number of residents will participate?

Increased/decreased?• What percentage of what is collected is contaminated vs.

recyclable?• Will we see an increase/decrease in material processing costs?• Will we see an increase/decrease in commodity pricing?

20th Annual Brazos Valley Earth Day, April 18 – Wolf Pen CreekBVED is planned and funded each year by Public Partners as well as Private Sponsors• Cities of College Station & Bryan, Texas A&M University, Twin Oaks Landfill & Compost Facility, Keep

Brazos Beautiful, and the Brazos Valley Council of Governments• Sponsors include – Brazos Valley Recycling, Bryan Broadcasting, KAGS, Brazos Valley Communications,

Lamar Advertising, RDM Audio, Texas Commercial Waste, and MANY more.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection, April 25 & Oct. 24 – TAMU USCBoth participate in each event as sponsors, providing staff and equipment.• Held each Spring and Fall• Provides safe household hazardous waste disposal and recycling options.• Open to all residents of the Brazos Valley.• Household garbage and commercially generated hazardous waste is not accepted.

MyWasteAvailable to all residents of College Station, may be utilized by residents and businesses.• Grant funded through the Brazos Valley Council of Governments and the TCEQ.• Downloaded for FREE through Google Play and iTunes.• Website plugin featured on Sanitation and Recycling pages.
