RazALERTThe University’s alert system used to send out timely information due to weather, safety, and campus closures. Make sure your cell phone number is accurate in order to receive alerts.

Mullins LibraryHas computers, printing, study rooms that can be reserved, books and databases, and specific subject librarians to assist you.

Financial Aid Advisor/ CounselorA staff member who will explain ways in which you may find academic funding. Call (479)575-3806 or go by 114 Silas Hunt 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to meet with an advisor.

FERPA (Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act)A federal law that protects your education records; such as personal information, grades, enrollment records, and class schedules. Decide if your parents or other institutions may have access to your academic information and update your preferences on UAConnect.

Fall BreakOctober 16-17 is the 2017 student Fall Break. No classes are held during Fall Break, however University offices will be open.

Dining Dollars(Formerly Flex$) - Spend these on food and drinks in any Chartwells retail location on campus such as the Union Food Court, Starbucks, Flying Burrito, Slim Chickens etc. Also, Dining Dollars may be used to buy a guest meal in any hall, can be reloaded in two increments of $50 per semester, and expire at the end of each semester.

Degree AuditAn outline of the course requirements that you have already completed and are yet to complete for degree completion. Found in UAConnect. Ask your academic advisor if you have any questions.

CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services)Feeling overwhelmed or want to be proactive? Schedule a Wellness Coaching session, attend a WellGroup, or seek a counseling appointment. Working hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; emergency services can be reached after hours at the main line (479)575-5276.

BlackboardThe course management system that most professors use to share course information such as assignment submissions and grades, ‘handouts’, and information about class. The class information is only available while you are enrolled in the course, so save any information you think you will need in the future.

Academic AdvisorHelps you explore programs of studies, understand academic policies and procedures, and select appropriate classes. Your advisor is assigned to you within your college and should be met with regularly. Your advisor is listed in UAConnect and at registrar.uark.edu.

UREC(Pronounced You-Rec; also called HPER, pronounced HYPER) - Use of University Recreationfacilities and most programs is covered by your student fees. Attend a fitness class in oneof the two indoor facilities, swim in the 50M competition pool, run on the indoor track, playon an intramural teams at the outdoor field complex, visit the bike shop and climbing walls,and rent outdoor equipment such as tents, bikes, and kayaks.

UAConnect(Formerly ISIS) - A student information system that students use for enrolling in classes,checking grades, reviewing academic advisement reports, submitting payments to theirstudent accounts, and applying for graduation.

Work-studyThe Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides on-campus jobs for students who havecompleted the FAFSA and been awarded Federal Work Study on UAConnect for the currentsemester. View a list of work-study jobs at finaid.uark.edu/work_study/

TranscriptAn official record of the courses a student has taken and grades received. Your unofficialtranscript for academic advising is in UAConnect. In UAConnect you may request an officialtranscript from the Registrar for a small fee.

Tech Spot Labs(Sometimes called General Access Computing Labs (GACL)) - Computer labs where studentscan print within their quota, ask for computer assistance, and use a wide range of softwareincluding Microsoft Office, Respondus Lockdown Browser, and math and statistical softwareneeded for many courses. Located in the Arkansas Union and Mullins Library (find additionallocations: its.uark.edu).

SI (Supplemental Instruction)A series of weekly group study sessions of students in historically challenging courses. SI is taught by students who excelled in the course previously. SI will help you get together with your classmates, ask questions, and develop strategies for learning. Some instructors require SI. RegistrarOffice of the Registrar supports academic life such as class registration, transcripts, and graduation.
