applications. They only accept around 4,000.

Research which students were accepted for the Fall 2019 semester.
What was the middle 50% of SAT scores and ACT scores?
What was the average weighted GPA of students admitted last
year?
NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER – WILL YOU PLAY SPORTS IN COLLEGE?

This should be done by the end of junior year.

HOW DO COLLEGES CHOOSE STUDENTS?
• Review student files…make selections based on expected
standards and needs of the college.
They look for students who are:
• Varied in terms of demographics and diversity
• Strong or improved academics and test scores
• Involvement in the school and outside community
• Special Admits (legacy, athletes, special talent, etc.)

READ THE SCHOOL’S COLLEGE PROFILE
• What size is a small freshman English class at the
college where you are looking?
Is it 14 students? 32 students? Or 300 students?
• Look for the following:
• What is the average GPA of accepted Freshmen
• What percentage of applicants are accepted
• What are the average SAT scores
