Section 1.0 MACHINE DESCRIPTION Stafast Model HFM-COLL Collated T-Nut Installation Machine is designed to automatically feed and drive collated T-Nuts into a pre-drilled hole. Coil packaged Stafast collated t-nuts are coil fed and advanced into the firing position by two pusher cylinders. The collated t-nuts are individually advanced under the insert tool, and by depressing the foot pedal, the collated t-nut is sheared from the coil strip and driven into the positioned work piece. Each machine is tooled per customer specifications. The machine is tooled to feed and drive a collated t-nut at a rate of 60 parts per minute, dependent on operator efficiency and work piece configuration. Section 2.0 SAFETY For operator safety, guards have been installed at hazardous locations. Do not remove these items which are there for your safety. 1. A safety switch is incorporated into the anvil locating pin/rivet tool. The collar

must be depressed with the component for the machine to function. 2. Do not operate without material in position on the anvil tool. 3. Disconnect the air supply line before servicing. 4. To prevent unauthorized use of this equipment, disconnect air lines to t-nut

machine when not in use. 5. Do not operate machine without plastic guard set 1/2" maximum above work

piece. 6. Do not operate machine without safety switch. 7. Use only quality Stafast collated t-nuts in this machine. 8. CAUTION: Do not place hands in the anvil area while air is hooked up to

machine.

Section 7.0 Troubleshooting

Problem Potential Cause(s) Remedy Drive cylinder does not fire

Safety switch not engaged or not functioning

Check air lines for kinks in tubing and hoses

Foot pedal not engaged or functioning

Make sure safety switch is performing properly

Switch arm has slipped off the shield

Move switch arm back on the shield

Switch needs to be adjusted because it is no longer being tripped when shield moves up and down.

Adjust by loosening the nut that is holding the arm to the switch, then move the arm to where it needs to be and re-tighten.

Switch has come loose from machine

Tighten switch

Machine is leaking air

Tubing has split or connection with fitting is loose

Locate leak and disconnect air supply to machine

T-nut not seating flush in component

Air pressure setting too low

Increase air pressure until T-nut seats flush with component surface

Pusher has come out of the escapement channels

Escapement channel is bumped or has trash in it or possibly the spring has become weak or is broken

Replace spring to provide tension and keep pusher in escapement channel

T-nuts not feeding properly

Object obstructing T-nuts as they unspool from the coil

Look for slack in the coil that may be catching on something (cardboard, bolt head, etc.)

Debris build-up on pushers or broken pushers

Evaluate pushers and either clean or replace

Page 12: Collated T-nut Installation Machine Model Number: HFM-COLL
