Performance Management Architect ModulesPerformance Management Architect has the following modules:

l Dimension Library—A centralized location to manage dimensions and dimensionproperties. You can use the Dimension Library to:

m Create dimension import profiles—enabling dimension updates from flat files andrelational database interface tables

m Add, delete, and modify dimension members in the Shared Library or directly inapplications

m Modify dimension and member properties in the Shared Library or directly inapplications

l Application Library—A summary of applications that have been created and/or deployedto Financial Management, Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition, Oracle HyperionProfitability and Cost Management, Fusion Edition, Essbase Aggregate Storage Option(ASO), or Essbase Block Storage Option (BSO). Applications contain dimensions anddimension attributes that are designed to meet specific requirements for FinancialManagement, Planning, Profitability and Cost Management, and Essbase (ASO) and (BSO)needs. You can use the Application Library to:

m Create Financial Management, Planning, Profitability and Cost Management, Essbase(ASO), or Essbase (BSO) reporting applications based on Financial Management andPlanning applications

m Manage applications in one centralized location

m View the data flow between applications

m Migrate applications to different servers

m Deploy applications to Financial Management, Planning, Profitability and CostManagement, Essbase (ASO), or Essbase (BSO)

l Calculation Manager— Enables you to create, validate, and deploy business rules andbusiness rule sets. (You launch business rules from within Financial Management andPlanning.)

There are three types of objects that can be calculated in Calculation Manager:

m Components, which are objects that comprise business rules and contain formulas, scripts, conditions, ranges, fixed loops, functions, members, and variables.

m Rules, which are objects that contain groups of components that perform calculations

m Rulesets, which are objects that contain two or more rules that are calculatedsimultaneously or sequentially.

Calculation Manager has system templates (such as, a template that copies data from onelocation to another and a template that allocates data from one level in the database outlineto other levels) that you can use in business rules. You can also create templates to performcalculations that solve problems unique to your business.

l Data Synchronization—Enables data synchronization between or within Hyperionapplications. You can use the Data Synchronizer to:

2 Using Administrator Features

Page 3: Hfm Admin Features

m Create data synchronizations between Financial Management, Planning, Profitabilityand Cost Management, Essbase (ASO), and Essbase (BSO) as destinations, and thefollowing sources:

o Financial Management

o Planning

o Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management, Fusion Edition

o Essbase BSO

o External source (flat file)

o Interface table

For example, an administrator can synchronize data between two FinancialManagement applications; two Planning applications, and between one FinancialManagement and a Planning application.

m Create data mappings for reuse

Application Creation and Application Management

Profile creation Use the Win 32 Client to create Applicationprofiles. These templates define thelanguages, calendar, frequencies andperiods for applications.

Import dimensions into the DimensionLibrary using an import profile.

You can utilize these profiles to populate theDimension Library from flat files or relationalinterface tables.

Profiles define the mapping of thedimensional information within the flat fileor interface table. The languages, calendar, frequencies, and periods are now treated asdimensions similar to other dimensions(accounts, entities, and so on). Similar toearlier versions, these dimensions cannot bealtered once an application has beencreated.

Application In the Web or Win 32 Client, select CreateApplication, then enter the applicationlabel, description, and select the applicationprofile.

Select File > New > Application. Follow thesteps in the Application Wizard to create theapplication.

After you create the application inPerformance Management Architect, youmust deploy the application to FinancialManagement. After deployment, theapplication is available in FinancialManagement.

Application settings In the Web or Win 32 Client, select ManageMetadata. Open the application file andselect AppSettings.

Open the application and click on theapplication name. The application settingsare displayed in the Property Grid.

Creating dimensions In the Win 32 Client, select ManageMetadata. Then, open the application fileand select the dimension to edit.

Open the Dimension Library. (Navigate >Administer > Dimension Library) Performone of these actions:

Assigning accesspermissions to create andedit business rules

In Calculation Manager, your ability to create, view, and edit business rulesand other objects isdetermined by the role youare assigned in Oracle'sHyperion® Shared Servicesand your ownership of theobject in CalculationManager. By default, auser owns the businessrules and other objects theuser creates. As anadministrator or owner ofthe object, you can assignownership of it to anotheruser.

In Business Rules, youassign permission to editbusiness rules and otherobjects by selecting whichusers and groups canmodify them.

In Financial Management, you do not need accesspermissions to create oredit business rules.

Assigning accesspermissions to launchbusiness rules

You assign permission tolaunching business rulesand business rulesets inFinancial Management,Oracle Hyperion Planning,Fusion Edition, or OracleEssbase after the businessrules and business rulesetsare deployed fromHyperion CalculationManager.

You assign permission tolaunch business rules andsequences in Oracle'sHyperion® Business Rulesby selecting the databaselocation (or all locations)from which they can belaunched and by selectingwhich users and groupscan launch them.

You assign permission toexecute a calculationprocess in Oracle HyperionFinancial Management,Fusion Edition by assigningthe correct role securityaccess for the applicationto which it belongs. Forexample, to run aConsolidate process, theuser must have rolesecurity for Consolidate.

*In Business Rules, you can create projects to organize your business rules, sequences, macros, and variables in ways that are meaningful toyou.
