Principal’s Message
Thank you for the warm welcome! ESNI is a school community
that lives up to its reputation of being friendly and warm. I have ex-
perienced this first-hand over last four weeks. Maybe that is why it
is hard for me to believe that almost a month of school has gone by.
Looking back, Strong Beginnings was a great opportunity for
teachers and students to get to know each other. Teachers will be
communicating assessment information to you shortly; if this has not
been done yet. Feel free to questions teachers on how you can best
support your son or daughter in their learning and development.
Looking ahead, October promises to be very busy. This should
come as no surprise, since ESNI is always a beehive of activity. This
is why this Newsletter is a goldmine of information and I encourage
you to keep a copy of it handy in order to reference it throughout the
month. I also invite to read the ESNI Information Handbook. You can
do so by accessing it on the ESNI website (www.srsd.ca/school/
ESNI) under the About Us tab.
As always, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher if
you have any questions or concerns. Furthermore, always feel free to
call or visit me if you need clarifications, have ideas or need to dis-
cuss something. I would be more than happy speak with you and get to
know you or your child better. Your contributions, support and partic-
ipation in school activities are always welcome. Happy Thanksgiving!

Lunch Time
All students, Kindergarten to Grade 8, are to remain on the school grounds during the school day unless they have permission on occasion from parents or a teacher to leave the grounds. At lunch time, K – 4 students residing less than 0.6 KMs from school, and Grades 5 to 8 students residing 1.6 KMs from school, may go home for lunch. Transported students need a note from their parents to leave the school grounds and if they do have permission to leave the school grounds, they must be accompanied by an adult. Regularly transport-ed students who come to school by bicycle in the Fall and Spring are still considered transported students. They, therefore, require notes to leave at lunch time as above. We want to ensure students are safe and back to school on time.

vere reactions and may be life-threatening to some.
Please check at the office or with your child’s home-
room teacher if you have any doubts or questions re-
garding food that is brought to school. Thank you for
your consideration in this matter.

Fire Prevention Week
This school year École St Norbert Immersion received a grant from the Child Nutrition Council
of Manitoba to support a fruit and vegetable snack program at our school.
The Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba is a charitable organization dedicated to helping
school children learn, grow, and succeed by supporting breakfast, snack, and lunch programs.
They are unique because they are based in Manitoba – and all of the funds raised stay in this
province, reaching children in all regions of Manitoba.
Delivery of the snack program began September 19th. As this program is in its early stages at
our school, we are looking for parent volunteers that may be willing to help in a variety of ways
such as in food purchasing, food pick-up and delivery to school, or food preparation. Please
contact the snack program coordinator Mme. Brigitte at [email protected] or 204-261-4430 if
you are interested. If you cannot volunteer your time, you can still help with the program in
different ways. We are also looking for monetary donations to ensure the sustainability and
success of this program. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact Mme. Bri-
gitte. Kiazyk-Mykytyn.

We thank you in advance for your support!
