IBM buys Cognos

IBM pays $5bn cash for Cognos, agreement to close first quarter 2008.

Feb 28th 2008, Cognos will become an IBM division, based out of IBM Canada.

All vendor/clients relationships will continue to be maintained and honoured.

Cognos shares closed on Friday $52, deal values Cognos at $58 per share.
