The issue date is usually positioned with the issue number. They are shown together on both the Front Cover and the Contents Page.

Contents The word ‘Contents’ is usually at the top of the page so it is clear for the reader to see it is the contents page so there they can find out more information about the magazine and what it contains. It is usually written in bold font and in a colour which stands out against the background colour of the magazine.

Main imageJust like the image on the Front Cover, the image on the Contents page also is related to an article and often shows of the importance of that article. It is usually positioned to the side of the contents page with the text surrounding it.

Magazine logoThe magazine logo is usually at the top left hand corner of the page. Depending on a magazines popularity sometimes people can recognise a magazine by its logo.

Article Names and Headings Headings of different articles are usually formed in a structure. The names of articles usually have the page number next to them so the reader can see clearly what page the article is on. The headings are usually at the top of a certain section with the articles listed below.

Page numbers The page numbers are usually on the left hand side of the article name. They stand out from the text as they are usually in a different colour as this sets them apart.

WebsiteThe website is next to the issue date and issue number usually, this is at the top of the contents page usually on the right hand side. This gives the readers/audience further access to find out more information about the magazine if required.

Quotes The Quotes are similar to those on the Front Cover of the magazine. There is sometimes a Quote on the main image on the Contents Page which is something that has been said during an interview for example. They are usually at the bottom of an image and not covering a large part of the image.

Layout The layout to a contents page is very structured. It is set into columns and sections, this gives the contents page a sense of structure and organisation. The text is clearly surrounding the image however keeping the main image as the main focus so it isn’t overpowering the image. The fact there is a specific layout to a contents page allows it to not look overcrowded and easier to access information.

Font The font on a contents page varies from the normal text to the headings. The normal text is usually in size 11, this keeps the font small so more information can be fit on however still an acceptable size. The sub- headings are somethings in bigger font or just in bold. The main heading, the word ‘Contents’ is in bigger writing to catch readers attention and show what the page is about.
