entices the reader to read on + gives an idea as to why it’s featured.

Feature articles on a range of artists (KISS, The Specials, Norah Jones) also suggest cultural variety and maturity, but also unity, in that these different
artists all share the same font and level of attention payed to them.
Man in suit who adds to ‘sophisticated’ theme who is also related to the articles, giving an
idea of what the magazine contains through an image as well as text.
Serene green colour in background as well as the names of different places (‘London, Memphis, Okemah’) written
beneath the masthead have connotations of sophistication, and cultural variety and intelligence.

“Discover great music” - implying quality articles - no particular genre mentioned suggests variety (i.e: not
“discover great jazz”
4 different sized images across the page, all of different numbers of people, of different genders and different
fashion styles, not only encouraging the reader to turn to the directly indicated page, but also suggesting variety.
Issue number at the top in a circle, and date at the bottom, different shapes utilised isn’t common and
catches the eye as a result.
Limited number of articles written on the side, but each have short descriptions, and page numbers
indicated up to 86, signifying the amount of content.
Red, white and black colour scheme. White and red feature more often than black, giving it a more relaxed feel than the hyperactive immediate
appearance of NME, although they use the same colours.
