Introduction
InsightFuel helps reverse global warming by
displacing dirty sources of energy and fuel with
clean-burning, domestic, renewable natural gas
(RNG).
We build equipment and provide construction,
installation, and commissioning support across the
following three, interrelated lines of business.
1. Infrastructure – we build natural gas fueling stations faster and safer with new materials and
methods.
2. Biogas - we help owners generate highest and best use of their RNG through vehicle fueling on-site,
or trucked to nearby fueling sites.
3. Virtual Pipeline – we help bring economically or physically stranded gas to market with the best first
and last mile technology in gas compression, decompression, and monitoring.
RNG IS PRODUCED FROM RECYCLED ORGANIC
WASTE. RATHER THAN LET METHANE FROM
ORGANIC DECAY ESCAPE INTO THE ATMOSPHERE
AND CONTRIBUTE TO CLIMATE CHANGE, THE GAS IS
CAPTURED AND USED AS FUEL OR ENERGY.

InsightFuel was formed in 2016 by combining (now) five established businesses to create an experienced
construction and operations team. We’ve supported the build of more than 190 natural gas fueling stations
across the U.S.—for both private fleets and public access stations—and have developed standard
engineering practices and designs that reduce errors, installation time, and cost. We operate as Contractor
(project developer, general, or mechanical) as well as Manufacturer of gas compression, decompression,
and gas measurement & accountability equipment.
The InsightFuel team holds several certifications and licenses:
NGVI CNG Fuel Station Design & Station Maintenance

Infrastructure
InsightFuel partners with developers, engineering firms, and fleet operators to build
compressed natural gas stations faster and safer using new materials and methods.
We’ve performed as general contractor, mechanical contractor, or specialty trade contractor on over one
hundred and eighty (180) station projects across the US since 2014.
The specialization we bring to construction has resulted in refinement of methods resulting in station build
scope over which we have control being performed faster and (consequently) more cost-effectively than
traditional methods used by generalists.

Transportable Fueling Station
The heart of our Transportable (R)CNG Fueling Station is an
Ariel JGQ 4-stage variable inlet pressure compressor driven
by a natural gas Caterpillar 3306 engine. A desiccant gas
dryer, cascade storage, and controls complete the package installed onto a 58’ 3-axle drop-deck trailer.
The trailer can be connected & disconnected in a day.
The transportable fueling station can be designed, constructed, and tested off-site while the site is
prepped for their arrival without much of the complexity and expense of a traditional “fixed-site” station.
Frequently local permitting can be streamlined as much of the project can be classified as a temporary
installation.
If additional compression or storage capacity is required, or if the compound needs to be relocated or
reconfigured, the platform is easily redeployed.
Transportable fueling stations generally offer the following advantages over traditional, “fixed-site”
stations:
1. Generally easier permitting process – local requirements for temporary facilities need to be met
2. Less disruptive and faster installation - equipment package is pre-plumbed and prewired off-site.
3. Greater Flexibility – it is easier to abandon a site and reposition assets to a different location, or
expand capacity with additional trailer modules as demand increases.
Please view the major systems of a transportable station in the following animation:

Fueling Trusses
The second half of our rapid deployment model for On-Site Vehicle Fueling
feature overhead fueling trusses. Up to ten loaders or roll-offs can be fueled
from a single truss (with cantilever extensions).
Trusses can be interconnected, fueling up to 8 vehicles parked bumper-to-bumper, and can also be
electrified.
Like with the transportable fueling station, the individual trusses and columns are plumbed and wired off-
site while simple site-prep steps are taken. Assembly and commissioning occur in a matter of days.
InsightFuel gasifies and electrifies galvanized overhead trusses which can be quickly installed in an existing
yard to add up to fourteen (14) new fueling points per truss in as little as a week on-site.
As with our Transportable Fueling Station, the benefit of off-site design, fabrication and testing limits the
disruption and cost of staging a months-long construction project in your yard or depot!

Landfill Biogas
As of 4Q19, there are 108 operational biogas production sites (US – 99, Canada - 9), 42 under construction
(US – 41, Canada – 1), and another 55 being planned (US – 45, Canada – 10) for a total of 208 projects.
Of these recorded projects, nearly half (48%) involve landfill gas as the feedstock for RNG, followed by
anaerobic (or bio) digestation (BD) at 35% and wastewater treatment at 17%.
There’s significantly more gas generated at a landfill typically than from biodigesters, meaning, at present,
landfill gas (LFG) is the most dominant source of RNG in North America.
There are over 2,500 active landfills in the US. 1
Far and away, the most popular use for RNG is transportation fuel, with 78% of all projects using at least
part of the RNG for this purpose. Roughly 10% of projects with transportation fuel as an end-use dispense
the fuel on-site, while 90% inject it into the pipeline for use elsewhere. 2

Highest & Best Use
It is for these reasons that InsightFuel is targeting
landfill biogas projects interested in producing
vehicle fuel.
The highest and best use for the landfill gas is
on-site vehicle because of energy credits
available which can add between $1.25 - $1.85
per gas gallon equivalent to the value of the fuel!
3 (D-3 RIN price range last 12 months from $0.83 -
$1.25; ≈ 1.5 RIN per GGE).
So not only is there the possibility of selling the fuel, but energy credits can add another $1.25 - $1.85.
For landfill owners operating site equipment including
dozers, wheel loaders, compactors, graders, and
excavators, an opportunity to retrofit engines to run
CNG can displace thousands of gallons of diesel use each
day.
Hundreds of loaders and transfer trucks visit landfills
daily to tip garbage collected locally. Roughly 35% of this
vocational fleet already operate natural gas engines.4
Sometimes these fleets have their own natural gas
fueling infrastructure from which they fuel overnight, but
in other cases, drivers are patronizing a public fueling
station during their runs. This is built-in market for the
on-site vehicle fueling application.

Hybrid Project Developer
Once the decision is made to initiate an LFG energy project, the next
step is to decide who develops, manages, and operates the project.
One of two primary models are typically followed in structuring the
project.
• Use an outside Project Developer to finance, construct, own
and/or operate the project.
• Self-develop by financing and use landfill’s own personnel
wherever possible, hiring consultants and contractors to fulfill specific roles.5 See Figure 2 – Project
Task Categories.
Through alliances and affiliations with other
industry suppliers belonging to Solid Waste
Association of North American (SWANA),
Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas, or the
US EPA’s LMOP partners program, InsightFuel
positions as a hybrid project developer for
landfill gas collection, clean-up, and
compression projects.
We can offer landfill owners as much, or as
little, assistance as a landfill owner needs to
harness the
full economic
potential of
their LFG.
A typical landfill gas collection & clean-up project involves hundreds of
discrete steps requiring significant capital investments often exceeding
eight to ten million dollars. Through partnerships with other developers,
major equipment OEMs, and specialized financial
institutions, InsightFuel can bring capital and
expertise to projects where landfill owners lack one
or more of the critical competencies to have a
successful project.
And by delivering highest & best use from landfill
gas through our expertise developing vehicle fueling
offtake, InsightFuel can give landfill owners relying
on our financing very attractive royalty terms.

Virtual Pipeline – Best First and Last Mile Technology
InsightFuel leverage our Infrastructure construction practice and our Biogas project development with a strategic partnership with Bison Compression, a subsidiary of Q-Subs, Auckland, New Zealand, to bring the US virtual pipeline market the best first and last mile gas compression and decompression technology. Virtual pipeline is a transportation system delivering compressed
and/or liquefied natural gas over-the-road to points-of-use where
traditional pipeline is unavailable or uneconomical. Gaps in the
network (often temporary), deterioration, and public opposition to
new pipeline construction drive projections for Virtual Pipeline growth compounding over 13% annually in
North America through 2022. When on-site vehicle fueling doesn’t consume all of a biogas project offtake
(and it rarely does), and a conventional pipeline interconnect is too cost prohibitive (too far away or the
nearest connection cannot handle the load), virtual pipeline is the only means for getting gas to market.
Our primary practice area centers on “first and last mile technology” meaning compression into the transportation trailers and decompression – or decanting – out of the trailers.
What makes us unique is our ability to access Bison’s innovative gas
Pressure Reduction Unit technology, build it in the US - compliant
with loal codes and regulations - and install and service it to give our
customers faster and more comprehensive support than other
companies who specialize in only one facet of the business (build,
install, service).
We continue innovating around the “first and last mile” of a virtual
pipeline including the following unique solutions:
Maxfill trailer filling technology transfers the heat of compression away from the filling process to get
colder, fuller trailer fills. The heart of the Maxfill system are a series of cold fill control valves acting in a
similar fashion to a refrigeration system.
When the trailer is empty, the
Cold fill controller is configured
to utilize the compressor cooling
in conjunction with system
sizing parameters to create
colder gas filling the trailers. As
the trailer is filled the cooling
reduces but the overall goal is to
fill the trailer close to its rated
Pressure Reduction Units and decanting systems from 80 - 3000 scfm

capacity and as close to Ambient air temperature as possible. Generally the final filled temperature is
within 5C of ambient.
Colder fills mean fuller fills. Fuller fills mean fewer trips. Fewer trips mean less equipment and lower
costs! Get it?? Get MaxFill!
Virtual Pipeline Metering & Accountability Network Solution (VPMANS)
The Renewable Fuel Standard of 2005 created a market to encourage the development of domestic
biofuels as a cleaner alternative to imported
petroleum-based fuels. Compliance with the RFS
requires fuel producers to either use or blend
biofuels in their product, or purchase credits from
biofuel producers. These credits are called RINs for
renewable identification number.
The EPA oversees the issuance of RINs through
Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) which renewable fuel
producers implement before they can generate RINs.
The approved QAP establishes a production
“pathway” which is tightly controlled, requiring
significant process measurement and maintenance of
a calibrated chain of custody to any transfer or usage
point in order for the fuel to be RIN-eligible.
InsightFuel developed the Virtual Pipeline Metering
& Accountability Network Solution (VPMANS) with
Emerson Micro Motion controllers to simplify
installation and maintenance (recalibration) of a
multi-site QAP.
Biogas producers - such as landfills and biodigester operators – who need to create and maintain a
Monitoring Plan at their location, who want to supply off-takers through a virtual pipeline, and who want
centralized, real-time visibility to production and consumption can save time and money incorporating
VPMANS into their QAP.
Overview of Production Pathway – Typical Landfill High BTU plan
All instruments and measurement points at production and usage sites can be networked by VPMANS and monitored centrally (up to 144 inputs)
