Site PreparationThe following procedures describe how to properly locate andprepare a wall for installation of the CM1 Automated Swing Armmount.

Locating and Preparing a Mounting Site

WARNING: IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN LEAD TOMOUNT FALLING CAUSING SERIOUS PERSONALINJURY OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT! It is the installer’sresponsibility to make sure the structure to which the CM1 isbeing installed is capable of supporting five times thecombined weight of the CM1 (70lbs/32Kg) and allattachments not to exceed (170lbs/77Kg).

1. Identify suitable wall location for the CM1 to be installedkeeping in mind the outward extension (18" Max.) and rightto left travel of the display (depends upon display size).

2. Using a stud finder, locate and mark the two studs to whichthe CM1 will be mounted.

IMPORTANT ! : The CM1 is designed for in-wall installationbetween two wood studs, 16" on center. Inadequate space mayremain on side between studs and mount for electrical wires/cables, plumbing, duct work, or insulation. Locate accordingly.3. Place template (provided) against wall so that mounting

holes on template are in line with studs. (See Figure 1)

Figure 14. Place a level along the level line on template and adjust

template until level. (See Figure 1)

5. Verify mounting holes on template are in line with studs andfasten template to wall using tape or similar means.

6. Drill six 7/32" (6mm) pilot holes at locations identified oninstallation template. (See Figure 2) and (See Figure 4)

WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD! CUTTINGOR DRILLING INTO ELECTRICAL CORDS or CABLES CANCAUSE DEATH or SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYSmake certain area behind mounting surface is free ofelectrical wires and cables before cutting, drilling, or installingfasteners.

WARNING: EXPLOSION AND FIRE HAZARD! CUTTINGOR DRILLING INTO GAS PLUMBING CAN CAUSE DEATHor SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYS make certainarea behind mounting surface is free of gas, water, waste, orany other plumbing before cutting, drilling, or installingfasteners.

7. Carefully cut through template and drywall, using a utilityknife or similar tool, along entire outer edge of shaded areaon template. (See Figure 2)

NOTE: When cutting out hole cut 1/8" (6mm) away from outeredge of shaded area on template to allow forclearance.

Electrical and Signal Cable InstallationThe CM1 requires 100/240 Vac(50/60Hz) service at the mount.

After preparing the area for the mount, all electrical and signalwires and cables should be routed and support hardware(J-box, Outlets etc...) installed.

Power is provided to the CM1 through a 6’ power cord whichexits the mount at the upper right hand corner. (See Figure 3)

DANGER: ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD! IMPROPERWIRING CAN LEAD TO DEATH OR SEVERE PERSONALINJURY! Wiring MUST only be performed by qualifiedelectricians.

1. Determine appropriate location for outlet and install.(See Figure 3) and (See Figure 4)

NOTE: Locating outlet to the right of mount will typically hidethe outlet from view when looking at the installeddisplay from the front. If the outlet is located above orbelow the mount it may not be hidden from view.(See Figure 4)

2. Route electrical wires to outlet3. Route wire from earth ground to lower front area of mount.

(See Figure 4)

DANGER: IMPROPER WIRING CAN LEAD TO DEATHOR SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY! Wire from earth groundmust be connected to grounding lug on mount located insidemount bottom cover on lower flange.

4. Route all signal wires to hole in drywall.5. Provide power to outlet.

Extended Programming CapabilitiesThe CM1 allows for extended programming to make the mountcompatible with other devices such as a Universal Remote orother control device through a serial connection.

NEC ProtocolThe modulated carrier is usually derived from 455kHz and is 1/12 of the frequency with 1/3 duty cycle.

When data are transmitted repeatedly, the frame cycle is107.9ms or 186 period.

A frame consists of a syn pulse, an eight-bit custom code, aneight-bit inverted custom code, an eight-bit data code and aneight-bit inverted data code.

The timing definitions of the output code waveform are shown intable 1-1 and figure 21 below.
