CLUB UPDATE…..from the committee
Last Saturday was the clubs End of Season Prize Giving; it was a great evening with about 90 members attending the celebrations.
Congratulations again to all the winners and also a big Thank You to our sponsors from Big Blue, Hunting & Fishing, Placemakers, Forrest Wines and Holer Diamonds for their generous support.
Please make an effort supporting them all in return.
Congratulations to Andrea Fensom for winning the spot prize—a ‘naughty’ Hanmer Springs Getaway sponsored by Tussock Peak Motor Lodge, Hanmer Springs.
With the annual fishing competition finished the club will take a little break over the winter months. This will be our last newsletter for the season.
The new season starts again 1st October 2018 with an open day and the start of a new fishing competition. In the meantime we are still planning a couple of events before then.
One event not to be missed is the upcoming jigging and lure fishing seminar on the 9th July.
We do hope that you have enjoined our club this season. As with any other club it’s only as good as its members
and I personally think we are doing pretty bloody good.
For many years now the club has been run by a small but active committee.
Since this is your club, please make and effort and be part of it, have your say, tell us what you like and what you
don’t like or even better join the committee to be actively involved. The clubs AGM will be 25th July and we really
would like to see you all there.

Nelson Dawnbreakers Fishing Club
In conjunction with Big Blue Dive & Fish , Catch Fishing are coming to Dawnbreakers
Fishing Club. Come along learn the secrets of lure fishing for snapper, kingfish, grouper and other species with Grant Bittle, aka (Captain) Espresso, and Arnie Mears.
Grant will explain why lures are a better strategy to use over traditional bait when
targeting bigger fish, the science behind a variety of different lures available in the NZ
market, and how to apply this knowledge to catch bigger fish. While Arnie will cover some of the techniques around mechanical jigging.
You will be able to check out the action of our lures in the tank, and see how the action of
the lures attracts fish.
Where: Nelson City Club/Maitai Bowling Club, 1 Kinzett Terrace, Nelson
When: Monday 9th July 2018, commencing 5:30pm
It will be a fun night with refreshments available, lots of opportunity to ask questions, and prizes to be won.
