Club championsip “Ure Cup” On 28/4 1926 Mr George Ure donated the “Ure Cup” to the golf club to be presented on an annual

basis to the winner of the club championship, the name of the succeeding winners to be inscribed there on. The championship would consist of strokeplay with the top 32 moving into a match play draw, the final over 36 holes, 18 in the afternoon and 18 in the evening. In the inaugural final P Finlayson won on the last green against E Oliphant and the cup was stored in Smith and Wellstoods safe. The championship took several forms over the coming years including a 36 hole stroke play in 1946, and 72 hole scratch tournament in 1950 + 1951

The Championship was eventually changed to the present format of 16 Qualifiers after two rounds stroke play, then matchplay.

An annual dance was held in the early days in various locations, and for a few weeks before the dance the cups where displayed in local shop windows.

Ure Monthly Medal In 1925 club captain Mr Wilson on behalf of Mr Ure offered a monthly medal for competition among the members. The monthly winners would play off for the honour of the Medal at the end of the season. Each monthly medal would take place on the last Saturday of June,July,August,September and October and played as stroke play. John Cameron was the first winner of the Medal. The Medal is still played for today it was changed in 1959 to a medal aggregate throughout the year, and is now the oldest prize awarded in the club. Past Winners

Wellstood Trophy – (Handicap championship) Up until 1969 Smith and Wellstood foundry employees played for the Wellstood trophy, presumably as part of a Smith and Wellstood golf section. In 1969 Smith and Wellstood donated the trophy to Bonnybridge G.C. to use as the club wished. The committee decided to use it as an annual Handicap championship competition ran concurrently with the club championship and the trophy awarded annually to the winner.
