There is a decided chill in the air this month with the arrival of

winter right on schedule. Time to put an extra blanket on the

bed and drag out our winter woollies as we in the southern

hemisphere begin our Winter solstice.

June is also the month to consider your health being Bowel

Cancer Awareness Month. June 1 - 7 is Medical research week,

followed by Heart Rhythm Week June 2 - 8, and International

Men's Health Week June 9 - 15.

Important fundraising days in June are:

June 14 - World Blood donor day.

June 15 - World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and

June 27 - Red Nose Day SIDS and Kids

As a community we are urged to spare a thought for people in

our community who may be struggling financially, personally or

with their health. If you have warm clothing or blankets that you

no longer need or use, consider giving them to a charity for dis-

tribution to those who need them.. Keep an eye on your elderly

neighbours, especially with the flu season lurking about - sadly

winter is a critical time for the health of many elderly and simply

by checking regularly on your elderly neighbours you could save

a life.

Wednesday Trivia Nights have

begun in

Boathouse

Bistro with

steadily growing

numbers

attending each

week

Wednesday Night Trivia has begun in Boathouse Bistro with steadily growing numbers attending each week. Scores are close,

and the questions cover a wide variety of topics ensuring fun and

challenges for everyone involved.

So how is it played?

Teams are made up of 2 - 4 players and the trivia game played in a

four round format of 20 questions per round. Teams write down

their answers on a sheet which is marked at the end of each

round, with an overall winning team declared based on total

scores for the four rounds.

Who can play?

Young, mature, experienced, intermediate or beginner, Anyone

can play trivia. Its always fun with a few friends, but also a great way to meet new people. Even if you have never played trivia be-

fore, come along and try it out, its FREE to play, and the format is casual - you are guaranteed a fun night out at the club. Meals are

available from 5.30pm in the bistro so you can come straight from

work if you like, then stay to play, or enjoy your meal during the

game.

New members who join in the month of June will be auto-matically renewed on 01 July 2014 for the new financial year. Your membership fees, along with your patronage in Beachcombers Bar, Boathouse Bistro, the Gaming Lounge and Keno machines, provide our club with vital funding to ensure we can continue running the clubhouse and providing you and your guests with a great place to relax.

01 July 2014. Renewing is easy, simply fill in the renewal form and hand to the bar staff along with your $5.00 fee , your new card will be available for collection from 01 July 2014. If you have joined us or renewed your member-ship since 01 May 2014 you will be able to col-lect your new financial year card anytime after 01 July 2014 simply ask our friendly bar staff to print your new card next time you drop into the club.
