JOIN A PARC(Preservation and Restoration Crews)

WARNING!! Once you work with one of thesegroups, youll find its contagious and you maycatch PARC fever. These projects are a perfectopportunity for Ranch owners and their families

(especially those who live locally) to take a moreactive role in the restoration/preservation of ourRanchs unique scenic areas. If you have an ideafor a project not listed and are willing to organizeit, or interested in information on approvedprojects, call ourRanch Manager Greg Watts or email him [email protected], for projectapproval(organizer/contact person required to obtain

project approval) Watch 9Lines for project WISHLISTS, scheduled workdays and updates!

FALL VOLUNTEER PROJECTSSeveral of our board of directors, and otherdedicated owners, organized several volunteerpreservation and restoration projects for thecoming months while there is less activity on theRanch. These volunteer crews have no affiliationto a committee/club, no officers or attempts togenerate funds (although donations of askill/products/items for specific projects areaccepted). Approved planned projects underway(or coming soon) and a contact person for eachproject is:

like we may be able to complete this project. Dirtremoved to make the walkway was hauled fromthis area to the helipad to fill in wash-out area.Volunteers needed at mini-golf during the day

    Thursday & Friday.Pictures next week.

COLD/BAT CAVE AREAS - Dawn Orr(Email: [email protected])

Plans are drawn and work should begin this week(of course, that is if weather permits and water

recedes) to restore and preserve this area forfuture generations by allowing foot traffic only upto the caves. Contact Dawn via email for updates,

    comments and questions.

SPRING LANE FALLS AREA Larry Armstrong(Email: [email protected])

This area in the last two years has become barrenof grass and other natural resources. A rock fencehas been approved and it will be assembled to stop

all ATV traffic up to the bank across from the falls. This will enable nature to regenerate its naturalbeauty over the next few years. Foot traffic onlywill be allowed in the fenced area. The plan callsfor picnic tables will remain in the scenic area.

IVE GOT A QUESTIONDo you have a question about something on the Ranch, but cantfind anyone who seems to have the answer? Please [email protected] your question and wellfind the answer for you. When space permits, we will publishsome of the questions and answers here in the 9Lines. t

    Q. I have heard there is a possibility Lonesome campground willremain open all winter. Is this going to happen?

    A. No. Lonesome has historically closed around Thanksgivingevery year. The request to keep it open comes up every yearbecause many believe Lonesome would be a logicalcampground to have open during the winter months. Now withWi-Fi capabilities, there is added interest. Ranch Managementhas always declined requests to designate Lonesome as thewinter location for several reasons. First and foremost, in snowor icy road conditions it would be very difficult, if not impossible,to navigate the hilly road terrain surrounding Lonesome.Occupants would be virtually trapped in extreme weatherconditions. To the contrary, Hill Country and Powder Mill haveaccess to the snow gate leading to the County Road. Secondly,

Lonesomes sewer system must be pumped and this wouldcause major problems if occupied heavily during winter months.

PICTURE THIS TIMES PASTFrom left to right, Cliff Rushing, Sean Kembrel, GeneBean (former Chief of Security) and Chuck Rushing.

These guys claim the best years of Cloud 9 Ranchbelong to them (along with Mike Edmmonds notshown in picture). Back in the early days of Cloud 9Ranch, the guys in the photo above were the C9RWarriors and worked hard helping Gene Bean earnhis pay as Chief of Security. Last July 4th, they had agreat visit and lots of reminiscing. They had a lot of

laughs, remembering one night they had a big bon-fire going. They kept hearing a noise in the edge ofthe woods and it kept coming closer and closer. So,the guys started chunking rocks at the sound andthen the monster appeared. It was Gene Bean whowas amazed at their accuracies.
