We couldn't be happier to have made our families new home here! It has become a little slice of heaven for us. One of our favorite things to do in San Juan Capistrano has been to see live theater performances at the Playhouse. We have enjoyed going to the monthly comedy night in the Black Box and have seen many of the high quality shows that have been put on in the theater. Our daughter has performed many times on that stage. Going to the playhouse is not only a great time, but it brings us downtown to spend time at the shops and great restaurants. It is our understanding that the city had several goals it hoped to accomplish through the bid process for the Playhouse property. Based on the goals of the council and our families desire to continue to have an active live performance center, we believe that Frontier Real Estate has the best proposal. We are asking that you represent our family's wishes and vote for the Frontier plan. It includes elements that ensures that the city's objectives are met. We are pleased that it has significantly increased parking, new retail space and most importantly a 250 seat theater. If you have any questions or need more information, please let us know. In the meantime, we appreciate you serving as our representatives. We look forward to the final decision being in support of continuing San Juan Capistrano's community theater along with additional amenities to draw more visitors to our great city. With Much Thanks! Hello SJC City Council,

Closed Session item 4a

We have been residents in San Juan Capistrano since 2011 after moving across the country.

Dear Mayor and City Council,

My name is Ed Szubielski, owner of We Olive & Wine Bar. I have reviewed the various bid proposals for the sale of the Playhouse Property and strongly support the proposal from Frontier Real Estate. This proposal is aligned with the HTC Master Plan and also calls for the preservation of the Camino Real Playhouse. As a business owner, the number one complaint we hear from our customers is the lack of available public parking. The Frontier Real Estate proposal of a 250-space public parking structure would greatly benefit all of the business owners in the downtown area . Additionally, the open-air plaza, shops, restaurants and office space proposed will be a beautiful addition to downtown San Juan Capistrano.

Thank you,

Ed Szubielski Owner We Olive & Wine Bar

Hello Brian,

As a resident of your district, I urge you to support the Frontier Real Estate proposal. It appears to be solid in many ways, especially in insuring the continued presence of a performing arts center in our downtown.

Our family of five has enjoyed performances at the CRP since we moved here 20 years ago! Also, we always dine in a nearby downtown restaurant. Having a performing arts center is a key element of a vibrant downtown "scene."

Dear Honorable Mayor, Honorable Council Members, San Juan Capistrano City Clerk, and San Juan Capistrano City Manager:

I am writing to express my support for the bid from Frontier Real Estate regarding the property on the corner of El Camino Real and Ortega Highway that presently includes the Camino Real Playhouse. My opinion is based on a review of all of the proposals submitted, my love of San Juan Capistrano, and my deep concern for the quality of life here in our historic town.

I am a resident of San Juan Capistrano. Additionally, I am a very active political participant, having voted in every election, on every bond measure, and on every proposition that has appeared on my ballot since 1968.

Preservation of the historic feel and pedestrian-friendly atmosphere of San Juan is very important to me. Our community theater is a vital part of the history and culture on which our town is built. The Frontier Real Estate proposal will preserve little theater for our community through a nonprofit corporation. This is in keeping with the cultural and spiritual foundation on which San Juan was built. Please approve the project proposed by Dan Almquist and Frontier Real Estate.

Thank you for taking the time to cbnsider my letter.

Sandra Williams San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675

Dear City Council members,

I am writing about the closed session item regarding the property at the corner of Ortega and Camino Real. I will be out of town so can't attend the meeting though I will watch the live video.

It is my sincere hope that I will hear, at the opening of the regular council meeting, that you decid~d to bring us the Frontier Development proposal.

I know you've heard it ... your constituents truly want to maintain the 25-year history of having performing arts in our city.

The alleviation of our urgent parking problem will be solved as well.

It couldn't get any better than this!

Please leave a legacy as the council who continued our performing arts tradition and finally solved our parking problem. Your action will enrich so many, raise awareness of our town as a tourist destination and bring in significant dollars to our businesses.

Thanks for all you do.

Subject: FW: Decision on 5/16 for Playhouse property

-----Original Message----From: Stacyhansen Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2017 10:32 PM To: City Clerk Scanstation Subject: Decision on 5/16 for Playhouse property

Dear esteemed Mayor & Council members:

As a property owner in this town for over 20 years, I've seen good things happen in this town as well as bad.

I support the arts & the Proposal submitted by Frontier Development. It's the best proposal because it preserves the arts & makes the best use of the property with much needed parking in the process.

The decision you make on this property is critical.

Why on earth are you even considering proposal's from someone & their affiliates that are currently suing our City? That is a conflict of interest to say the least.

Please make a decision that is in the best interests of our Community & not leave us with another undeveloped lot.

Otherwise, Are you kidding?

Thank you , Stacy Hansen San Juan Cap 92675

Subject: FW: Choose the project with Maximum PUBLIC Benefit

We are looking forward to the public review of the bids you have selected and we will be recommending the plan that:

1) Adheres to the Historic Town Center Master Plan 2) Increases Parking 3) Continues and expands the commitment to the Performing Arts 4) Attracts more people to benefit downtown restaurants and businesses 5) Demonstrates Financial Viability

Thank you for supporting performing arts in San Juan and listening to your public.

Subject: FW: Shakespeare had to start somewhere...

From: Craig Holland Sent: Monday, May 15, 2017 9:07 AM To: Derek Reeve; Kerry Ferguson; Pam Patterson; Sergio Farias; Brian Maryott; Maria Morris; Ben Siegel Subject: Shakespeare had to start somewhere... Without a venue for the performance of new plays, even the greatest of playwrights wouldn't have been able to start their careers. The Camino Real Playhouse is one of those rare community theaters that not only encourages but also provides a venue for new plays and playwrights to be discovered. Every year, the Camino Real Playhouse sponsors the "Showoff" Playwriting Festival" for new plays. Opportunities like "Showoff" are few and far between in the world of theater. I implore the city council to choose the plan that keeps this wonderful tradition of sponsoring new dramatic work intact. I've looked through the proposed plans on the City web site, and it is my feeling that the bid from Frontier Real Estate will keep the legacy of the Camino Real Playhouse moving forward. I love that the Frontier plan offers a much needed parking structure (I drove around for 20 minutes the other day looking for a parking spot). I am looking forward to the addition of quaint shops and restaurants (love the Hummingbird Cafe). And most importantly, I am thrilled at the prospect of the Camino Real Theater expanding to a theater that offers 250 seats! That would be an amazing improvement from where we are today. As a long time Orange County resident (born and raised here), I fully support our local community theaters. I love the idea of having a new "Event Center" in San Juan.

Please consider the fate of local theater, playwrights and the future of the arts in Orange County when you cast your vote.

Thank you!
