Who Is Art Works For Change

Art Works for Change established in 2008 is a is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization

based in Oakland. Our organization creates contemporary art exhibitions to address critical

social and environmental issues.  We strives to harness the transformative power of art to

promote awareness, provoke dialogue, and inspire action.

Our museum-quality exhibitions are hosted by fine art institutions all over the world, and

feature artists whose work promotes awareness, provokes dialogue and inspires action.

We recently launched a new online exhibition platform to broaden the reach of our projects.

• What will the future reveal about our choices and attitudes toward the natural world?  In his cinematic oil paintings, Alexis Rockman portrays a fermenting world shaped by human excess and environmental corruption.  He depicts the future as a saturated dystopia, in which creatures struggle to survive toxic conditions and the onslaught of invasive species.

Gallery The Artist: Nicole Dextras

• Nicole Dextras is an environmental artist whose ephemeral works celebrate sustainability and highlight our essential connection to nature.  She works with natural materials, such as ice and plants, and uses their ever-changing qualities to remind us that life, though fleeting, can be beautiful in all of its stages.  In a series of works entitled “Botanical Wearables,” Dextras offers a creative vision of our relationship to the environment.
