On behalf of the Cleveland Hill Union Free SchoolDistrict Board of Education and the entire facultyand staff of this wonderful district, it is my pleasureto wish each and everyone a “Happy New Year.”

Governor Paterson’s Budget Proposal is out andreductions that vary from a 3% loss to an 11% lossin state aid have been projected. Cleveland Hill

faces a 6.3% loss is state aid and the administrative team and the Board ofEducation is working diligently to reduce spending and come up withsolutions that will allow the district to continue providing an excellenteducation for all our students.

Once again,Western New York witnessed the incredible power ofnature and at the end of December; we had huge amounts of snowcoupled with howling wind gusts, all of which forced us to close schoolfor two days.

Our new Student management system “PowerSchool” is starting to workwell for us and we are busy everyday working with our data andmandated reporting to the state.

January was another “test”month and our teachers and their studentsprepared for grades 3 - 8 NYS ELA Assessments and in the High Schoolwe had regents exams.

Our PTSA is very active, our Shared Decision Making Teams are busycreating goals that align with and support the new Board of Educationgoals that were published in the last edition of Highlights.

The paperwork for our EXCEL Capital Project is in to the state and weare hoping to begin work on the project in June or July of this year.

Once again,“Happy New Year”and I look forward to seeing everyone inthe days ahead at our concerts, open houses, sporting events and ceremonies.

Thank you.
