REFLECTION PAPER

When I first heard about the community outreach project, I only saw it as another requirement to complete. Originally, I had no deep interest for it but eventually I started to like. I found interest in it during our planning phases. When we finally started the initial exposure, that was the time when I really saw the urgency of the situation for the community we visited, that was when I started thinking.When we started the actual planning for the second exposure, that was when I saw the purpose of our outreach project, it was to uphold the dignity of our less fortunate brethren by helping them in any way that we can. Seeing the environment that we saw will definitely move many to compassion. We did what we could so that we could share our compassion and mercy with these people. We tried to alleviate the poverty that they were facing by helping them enjoy themselves a bit and showing them that we people are all the same by simply being among them. We went there bearing gifts of companionship and certain material gifts that would help them with their lives after they told us of their problems. We took the time to prepare for the second gathering with those good people so that we may be able to help them as much as could.Basically, the original reason for me was because I initially saw the outreach as a requirement but became deeper for me eventaully. Eventually, I participated in the outreach project so that I may do my part to help these people who right now I can say are friends. We initiated the outreach project so that we could uphold their dignity and to show them compassion so that they may see that even though they live a life filled with poverty, there are still people who are willing to help them.
