JEWELRY
Inspiration: This piece is inspired by the concept of ‘interactive jewelry’. The idea is to provide a simple playful element to the jewelry. The subject of inspiration is the simple origami toy shown in the picture. The different geometric faces of the toy justify the theme ‘Facets’.
Step 1: The initial doodle shows the idea of identical elements placed on a common axis in such a way that on pushing one element the rest would subsequently follow.
Step 2: The form shown alongside was the first form that was generated for this concept. The form has been made keeping in mind the theme ‘Facets’ and the shape of it is such that allows inter-locking of identical forms easily. The possiblities of this form were explored and have been shown as under.

PRINCESS OF PERSIA
Earrings that draw inspiration from the grandeur of the
Mughals. The silhouette takes after the spectacular arches and domes that define their architecture, while the color
green underlines the richness of everything Mughal.
THE SILVER HEIRLOOM
A hand-crafted silver pendant adorned with red stones, celebrating the exclusive
‘filigree’ work of Orissa. A traditional yet contemporary
piece that fits every mood and occasion.
THE VILLAGE BELLEA piece that pays a tribute to the ancient Indian game of ‘Shatranj’ (chess),
deriving its silhouette from the ‘pyada’ (pawn). Essentially Indian in its flavor but contemporary in its appeal, the piece makes use of hammered texturing and dull gold finish, along with the colors of the game, i.e, black and white,
used in the form of diamonds, Kundan and Meena.
THE ‘QUEEN’Another piece inspired by the
game of ‘Shatranj’, a salute to the most powerful gamepiece, the ‘Queen’. The diamond studded corporate ring symbolizes the queen from both sides (black
and white) of the game. For the modern Indian woman who
carries herself with the panache of a queen, in every walk of life.
THE RADIANT SUNAn Indian contemporary brass brooch
measuring 3 by 3 inch, made of intricate hand-cut Jali (cutwork), capturing the
powerful radiance of the sun at its peak. Complemented with brass chains.
COLOR CARNIVALA hand-crafted neckwear made up of tiny glass bottles of perfume, filled with gel bags of different colors. The costume jewelry piece is held together loosely through transparent nylon threads. The piece is a reflection of
the peppy, vivacious and playful part of me, by way of the bright colors, the varied random forms and shapes it takes every time its worn and the overall liveliness and vibrance it reflects.

COFFEE SHAKER: PROTOTYPE 1Manual coffee shaker designed to reduce effort and make work ergonomically easier
and more efficient for roadside coffee vendors in India. The form has been chosen keeping in mind the nature of the job and ease of handling. An extra grip feature has
been provided in this model, in the form of a hole in the surface of the lid. The hole can also be used to suspend the shaker from a hook when not in use. The above prototype has been moulded in fibre. The original product would be in 1:1 ratio in light-weight
PET plastic and would have a screw system for locking .
COFFEE SHAKER: PROTOTYPE 2Second prototype for the manual coffee shaker. The purpose is the same as the
first one, making the job ergonomically easier and efficient. The above prototype has been moulded in fibre. The original product would be in 1:1 ratio in light-
weight PET plastic and would have a screw system for locking .
MAGGI TOMATO KETCHUP BOTTLE REDESIGNED500 ml Maggi tomato ketchup bottle redesigned. The bottle is openable
from both ends so as to cut the wastage due to the viscosity and thickness of the ketchup, which is a common problem in glass bottles towards the
finishing of the contents of the bottle. The lower part of the bottle is in the form of a screw lid that collects the contents that remain at the bottom of the bottle towards the end. The above model is a wooden prototype of the
actual design which would actually be in PET plastic.
KOLHAPURI PACKAGING: PROTOTYPE 1Packaging design for ‘Kolhapuri Chappals’. The above prototype has been made in a 1:1 ratio in rexine, actual material used would be leather. The package has been designed to promote the Kolhapuris as a high-fashion footwear globally. The compact package is
designed in a way so as to store the footwear safely and in style.

TOY BASED ON CAM-MECHANISMManually-operated toy based on the theme ‘Fun at workplace’. The toy shows the workplace of a hairdresser. The hairdresser is having a good time blowing up the wig of his unaware customer with his hairdrier. The toy works on Cam mechanism. Two wooden cams have been fitted inside the box below, which are connected to their respective followers. As the small handle provided on the side of the box is rotated clockwise, the two cams, one connected with the hand of the hairdresser and the other to the lady’s wig, joined inside with the handle through a common shaft begin to rotate, thus elevating the hand of the hairdresser first and then the lady’s wig, thus creating the look of the wig flying up when the hairdrier is directed towards it, and coming
down when it is moved away.
ECCENTRICITY HAIRBANDHair accessory inspired by the theme ‘Eccentricity’, made of a discarded ‘Mini-
CD’ with rubber bands of different colors fastened on it. The different bright and vibrant colors symbolize joyfulness and liveliness. The loose ends of the rubber
bands are set into motion at the slightest movement, indicative towards curiosity, dynamism and energy.
