Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in the auto pedestrian accident involving Doctor James Hunderup. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 14, 2019, in the 400 block of 23rd. At approximately 0215 hours, video footage shows Doctor Hunderup walking alone and entering the intersection of 23rd and Postoffice Street. Video surveillance, from businesses in the area, shows a red colored vehicle enter the intersection of Postoffice Street at the same time. Video in the area shows the red vehicle immediately leaving the area

and returning for a moment a short time later. Galveston Police officers that were conducting a patrol of the area located Doctor Hunderup laying partially in the street. At the time of the incident, patrol officers believed that Doctor Hunderup was under the influence of an intoxicant. Doctor Hunderup was able to provide his name to the responding officers. Officers on scene then made contact with an immediate family member and were provided a nearby address. Officers were able to release Doctor Hunderup to the family member. Later the following day, the family member sought medical attention for Doctor Hunderup. Once at the hospital, a medical evaluation revealed extensive internal injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle.Attached is a still image of the vehicle in question.
