10hThe Royal Palace is a former royal residence of the Karadjordjevic dynasty. The Palace is surrounded with pergolas, park terraces, swimming pools, pavilions and platforms. There are magnificent views towards the ridge of Dedinje Hill, Koshutnjak Forest, Topchider and Avala Mountain. The ground floor reception rooms are very beautifully appointed. The Formal Entrance Hall is paved with stone and decorated with copies of medieval frescoes. The Blue Drawing Room is decorated in the Baroque style; the Golden Drawing Room (Palma Vecchio) and Dining Room are in the Renaissance style with impressive wood carved ceilings and bronze chandeliers.

The palace was designed by architect Aleksandar Djordjevic, in a neo-Palladian manner inspired by the 18th century English houses and was built with the personal funds of King Alexander I for his three sons. Alexander was assassinated during a state visit to Marseille, France, the same year construction on the palace began. The Palace was completed in 1937.

12hTour Historique Kalemegdan park, hommage to 1939 Grand Prix in Belgrade High above the Sava and Dunav (Danube) confluence, on the rocky ridge, which opens the view of Novi Beograd (New Belgrade), Zemun, and wide plains of Pannonia, is the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan, the former historical and urban center of Belgrade. Its name – Kalemegdan (tur. kale=fortress, megdan= battlefield) relates only to the wide plateau around the Fortress which was in the 1880’s turned into a park. The paths of the park will lead you through the fortress, gardens, gates, and to old monuments. Apart from being themost important historical complex, for people of Belgrade, Kalemegdan is a multi-colored stage for various music and theater festivals, a place of crushes and first kisses, a haven for pensioners and chess players.

11h Royal Family mausoleum and church at MONASTERY OPLENAC

At the top of Mali Oplenac in 1910, white temple of St. George began to grow and build up. It was designed to be the tombstone of the royal family Karadjordjevic. The founder and builder of the endowment, King Petar I Karadjordjevic lived just enough to see it built up. His son, King Alexander, steadily filled the testament of his father. The last pieces of the puzzle, lamps and candlesticks, were set in the summer of 1934. Not long after that, unexpectedly fast, after the assassination in Marseille, he was buried there himself, in a fully built church.
