CLASS RULES:
Scholars will enter the room and immediately take their seats. No scholar should be roaming the classroom.
At the sound of the bell, scholars should begin the warm up or activity provided. All are expected to work from bell to bell
All students are expected to stand for the pledges in a humble manner.
During announcements, scholars will remain absolutely quiet. No scholar should be talking or engaging in any social activity at this time.
Follow all Shoemaker High School rules that are part of the Student Code of Conduct. This includes wearing your student ID card in plain sight at all times and following dress code and tardy policies.
When tardy, please report to the nearest tardy station for a pass.
CLASS RULES:
Arriving to class after the bell rings but before 15 minutes have passed will result in the student being counted as tardy.
If you are absent please see the agenda on the white board for that week and make arrangements to obtain any missed work in a timely manner. You will have FIVE school days to complete any missed work and turn it in for grading.
All classwork is due at the end of the period unless instructed otherwise.
Any homework assigned is due at the beginning of the next class period.
THESE RULES ARE IN PLACE TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN ORDERLY AND PRODUCTIVE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT. WE MUST WORK TOGETHER TO PROVIDE AN ENJOYABLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR EVERYONE.
CLASS RULES:
No speaking while others are speaking. Everyone has the right to learn and to speak without interruption and this includes the teacher.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
No food, or drinks in the classroom except water. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis based on medical needs and documentation provided.
Absolutely NO profanity will be tolerated in the classroom
ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Electronic devices are only allowed for EDUCATIONAL purposes.
Consequences:
1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: device will be confiscated and turned in to the APs office
PASSES
Passes for accommodations will be issued as needed. This includes the dyslexia lab, CMC, ESL etc.
Restroom passes:
In the interest of classroom and personal safety, please take care of any personal business before class starts, between passing periods. Each student will be issues three restroom passes from me per semester, for emergency purposes only. This excludes students with medical needs and proper documentation.
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATING RULES
1st offense: verbal warning
2nd offense: student/ teacher conference
3rd offense: Phone call home
4th offense: Parent/Teacher conference
5th offense: Referral to AP office
As the teacher, I deserve the right to escalate from the first offense consequence to fifth offense consequence without notice, if I feel the situation warrants it.
GRADING POLICY
Grades will be calculated based on the following scale:
40% FORMATIVE- Daily work/ homework/ quizzes
60% SUMMATIVE- Assessments
Daily work includes, but is not limited to:
Notes
Class participation
Worksheets attached inside the interactive notebook
If a student turns in an assignment past the due date, the following assessments will be made:
One day late- automatic 10 point deduction
Two days late- automatic 20 point deduction
No late work will be accepted on the third day or later
GRADING POLICY
Students’ interactive notebooks will be assessed as a test grade at least once per grading period. Interactive notebooks should be in the appropriate order.
Student grades and absences/tardies are viewable online through Home Access Center. Any questions can be directed through myself or through the student’s school counselor.
REDO POLICY
In accordance with Killeen ISD guidelines, students shall be permitted one opportunity to redo an assignment or retake a test with a grade of less than a “70”. The guidelines for retaking the assignment/ test are as follows:
Every effort is made to allow students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of concepts and skills to achieve mastery.
For purposes of the policy, the students MUST contact the teacher within ten school days from the day the grade is posted in Home Access Center to schedule a time for the redo/retake.
The student MUST attend at least one tutorial session prior to redo/retake.
The student will only have one opportunity to redo/ retake an assignment on which they received less than a “70” and it must be completed during the same grading period.
REDO POLICY
The redo/ retake will cover the same material but MAY contain different questions.
The teacher will average the two grades to reach the new grade for the assignment. Students should keep in mind that this could result in a lower grade from the assignment, and the highest grade the student will receive is a “70”
Late and /or missing assignments will not be eligible for a redo/retake.
