Drawing inspiration from the art quilt ‘Tree of Life’ students will be guided to develop their own unique pictorial textile piece. Students do not require prior knowledge of free stitch machine embroidery, however a confident knowledge of setting up and using their sewing machine is required. 2017 is a special year for The Great Escape as we will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary and the committee has been working hard to make the weekend extra special.

We have 16 workshops for you to choose from and as an extra treat we have 3 Australian tutors – Christine P Bishop, Annie Huntley and Margaret Light - joining us this year. As usual we also have a mixture of local tutors and you will see that some have designed something special to commemorate the event. Aren’t we lucky to have such a great selection of classes right on our door step? We hope you will enjoy browsing our brochure and making your choice.

The committee has revised the Exhibition criteria to make it clearer to all. We have added a General Display category in the hope that this will encourage more of you to bring your completed work to show. How about completing one of your UFOs from a previous Great Escape? And of course our theme had to be in keeping with the celebration so it is “Silver Threads among……….” We look forward to seeing your take on this.So please come and join us for a wonderful weekend of stitching and other fun. See you there!
