About a year ago, I made the worst financial mistake of my life. Being only 16 years old, I had just received my first truck and gotten my first job. Once I had been working for a couple months, I had the urge to start to fix up my truck. I decided to spend a little money on interior accessories. Then, I made the decision to buy new tires. Not just any tires, but off-road tires. I spent $1,500 on tires for my truck. I thought they just looked good. It only took about two weeks for me to realize this makes my gas mileage worse. Not only did I just spend a great deal of money on my tires, but now I was dishing out even more, just for gas! Through that experience, I learned that it’s not about who has the nicest things; it’s about who saves their money for the future. I am now saving money and preparing for college. Since I will be heading off to college in 2014, I need to crunch every penny instead of spending it on outrageous items.
