Ang Miyerkoles sang Badlis isa ka selebrasyon sang bug-os nga Simbahan. Ang Badlis ginapatigayon sang Pari pagkatapos sang Homiliya sa Misa paagi sa pagpalhit sang abo sa porma sang Krus sa agtang sang tumuluo, kaupod ang iya pagsambit sang mga tinaga, “Sa yab-ok ka naghalin, sa yab-ok ka magabalik” ukon “Maghinulsol ka sa imo mga sala kag magtuo sa Maayong Balita”.

Sa sini nga adlaw obligado ang tumuluong Katoliko nga naga-edad 18-60 nga magpuasa; obligado man ang naga-edad sugod 14 anyos nga mag-abstinensiya sa pagkaon sang karne sang kasapatan. Sa sini man nga adlaw ginatugutan ang mga tumuluo nga magkaon sang isa lang ka bes nga may pagkabusog; sa duha ka nabilin nga pagkaon, magagmay nga bahin ang ginatugutan.

Pagkatapos sang Miyerkoles sang Badlis, ginadumilian ang pagkaon sang karne sang kasapatan sa kada Biyernes hasta sa adlaw sang Biyernes Santo.

Duha ka beses kada tuig nagapuasa kag nagaabstinensiya ang mga Katoliko - sa Miyerkoles sang Badlis kag sa Biyernes Santo.

Ang Miyerkoles sang Badlis amo ang adlaw sang pagsugod sang tuigan nga selebrasyon sang Kwaresma. Ini kuarenta ka adlaw nga preparasyon antes sang Semana Santa. Ginahimo ini nga pag-aman paagi sa pagpamalandong ukon pag-Holy Retreat, pag-Via Crucis, pag-Konpesar, pag-Komunyon, paghimo sang buluhaton-kaluoy kag kaalwan. Ginapaabot ang tanan nga tumuluo nga mag-Konpesar bisan kaisa lang sa isa ka tuig ilabi na gid sa tion sang Kuaresma bilang paghanda sa selebrasyon sang Domingo sang Pagkabanhaw. Sa ti-on sang Kwaresma ginapamalandongan sang tumuluo ang kasakit, kamatayon, kag pagkabanhaw ni Jesukristo agud matubos ang katawhan sa Sala. Iya man ginapamalandongan ang kahulugan sang sining pagtubos ni Jesukristo sa iya kabuhi kag kaluwasan.

Vicariate of st. Peter youth Ministries 3rd Founding anniversary Celebration

Last Saturday, March 1, 2014, we celebrated the 3rd year Anniversary of the Vicariate of St. Peter Youth

Ministries at the La Isabelita Hall, Cathedral Compound with the theme, “Young People: Celebrate and Affirm as We Journey with St. Peter” . Almost 60 youth ministers from different parishes gathered and had fun.

The programme started with a Holy Rosary asking for the intercession of Mother Mary. During the opening liturgy, the Bible was enthroned and we invoke the Holy Spirit to be with us. The Gospel was read followed by a silent reflection and a closing song, Thank You Lord, was sung. Then we played games such as the boat is sinking, charade and many others.

We were very blessed to get to know who Saint Peter is and his relation to me as a youth minister through a talk given by Rev. Fr. Marcelino Cortez, Jr. He gave us a short story about a cracked pot. It was about the two pots carried by a water bearer on his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and had always delivered water in full. Of course, this perfect pot was proud of its perfect accomplishments, while, the poor, impefect cracked pot felt miserable and ashamed that it was able to accomplish half only. But the water bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but, not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I have always known about your flaw and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path. Everyday, while we walk back, you’ve watered them. For, two years, I have been

able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.” So the question is, are you a cracked pot?

For me as a youth minister, I am really a cracked pot. I think last year, I bravely shared my flaws and cracks in our weekly newsletter, Candle Light. Those cracks made me a better person. Those flaws led me to where I am right now, and made me realize my real purpose.

“St. Peter, The Mistake Maker.” Why is this so? He lacks faith (Mt 14:28-31). He is impetuous (Mk 8:33). He is timid (Mk 14:66-72) so, how can he be our model? Fr. Mars gave us insights about Spirituality of Perfection to Spirituality of the “Earthen Vessel”.

Spirituality of Perfection speaks of EFFICIENCY BUT IT IS TIRESOME because it is prone to DENIAL - does not accept weaknesses and limitations; it emphasizes DISCOURAGEMENT- doing something by himself, without the help of others and God; it exhibits FALSE PRIDE- though incapable of doing something, yet he keeps on proving something; and it is prone to SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS- tends to blame others.

Spirituality of “Earthen Vessel” speaks of LOVE: there is ACCEPTANCE - We’re not perfect, so, we accept our sinfulness, limitations, weaknesses; OPENNESS- “We may not be good, but we are willing to lay down our true selves and let God work in us”; it seeks for HELP- one knows that he can’t do it alone, hence, humble enough to accept that he needs help; it emphasizes CHARITY- one understands the pain and burden of another he himself has experienced.

He also shared FROM Experience of Breakdown TO Breakthrough. Breakthrough happens through REPENTANCE. As we start the season of Lent last Ash Wednesday: A-admit S-step forward H-hope.

Indeed, St. Peter is worth model for us young

people. He is a REAL MAN. He HONESTLY and HUMBLY accepts his MISTAKES and embraces breakdown in order to BREAKTHROUGH (REPENTANCE).

We ended our celebration by awarding the winner of the Logo Contest, Mr. Mclyn Casino, of the parish of St. Vincent Ferrer, Leganes, Iloilo. Our entry made by Ian de la Cruz (Brgy. Simon Ledesma) won second prize and with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Nathaniel G. Gentizon, our Parish and Vicariate Youth Director.

One of the things I enjoyed a lot as a priest is going to the barangays to be with the faithful either to

celebrate the Holy Mass or to administer the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick or to simply be with them. My communion with the people revitalizes me that my tiredness vanishes and I have found so much meaning in my priesthood when I am with them in the grassroots.

Last Friday, I celebrated Barangay Monthly Mass in Brgy. Benedicto. We held the Mass at Sitio Langka, not in their barangay chapel as they would change venues every month. Actually, there was no chapel in that sitio, only a small grotto and a little space outside their houses. Yet, this circumstance did not prevent us from celebrating the Holy Eucharist. There’s no church structure though but there’s the people of God, the Body of Christ.

With this experience, I remember the Redemptorist priests in Tacloban who celebrated Mass last February 21 with the survivors of typhoon Yolanda in Anibong district, a coastal village in Tacloban City, in the midst of cargo vessels that were swept inland by storm surges during the onslaught of the typhoon.

Ang mensahe sang aton Pastor nabase sa sulat ni San Pablo sa mga taga Corinto: “Nahimo sia nga imol agod nga paagi sa iya pagka-imol, kita magmangin manggaranon” (cf. 2 Cor. 8:9).

Ginsulat ini ni San Pablo sa mga taga-Corinto agod magmangin maalwan sila sa pagbulig sa mga tumuluo nga nagapuyo sa Jerusalem nga nagaantus sa daku nga kaimolon. Ini nga mga dinalan may ila man nga kahulogan para sa aton nga mga Kristiano sa sini nga panahon.

Una, nagapakita ini kon paano nagapanghikot ang Dios. Ang Dios manggaranon, pero nagpaka-imol Sia para sa aton. Si Kristo, ang walay katapusan nga Anak sang Dios nagpuyo upod sa aton; ginbayaan Niya ang Iya himaya agod nga mangin pareho sa aton sa tanan nga bagay luwas lamang sa Sala (cf. Phil. 2:7; Heb. 4:15). Diri ginapakita kon paano nagahigugma ang Dios – ang pagpaambit sa ginahigugma sang tanan nga ara sa Iya. Ang paghigugma nga tunay amo ang nagahimo nga kita tanan alalangay, kag nagaguba sang mga pader nga nagaseparar kag nagabahin-bahin sa aton. Si Jesus nagtrabaho paagi sa Iya tawhanon nga kamot, nagpensar sa Iya tawhanon nga panumdoman, nagpanghikot suno sa Iya tawhanon nga kabubut-on kag naghigugma

Tips for Growth spiritual help to overcome temptation

Help. First be encouraged by this scripture

which tells us we can overcome temptation with God’s Help. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV): No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. Flee from it.

1 Corinthians 6:18 says, “Flee from sexual immorality.” In recent weeks, Grey’s Anatomy has been an excellent example of how easy it is to give in to temptation when you indulge your desires and allow the moment to take over. God knows that our natural desire is to give in to temptation when we entertain it. Rather than indulging a temptation, we are told to run from it. Indulging temptation only gives strength to it.

Trust God to help you, not yourself. The greatest risk to falling into

temptation is thinking that you alone can handle it . Distrust yourself and trust God. Dependence on Him and not self is the key to overcoming. Watch and pray.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41). This was Jesus’ instruction to his disciples. He knew they had good intentions, but that their human nature was subject to weakness. The way to overcome is to stay watchful of the pitfalls and pray. Prayer is our communication with God. Talk to Him about the temptation. Ask Him to strengthen you when you are weak. When we are weak, He is strong.

What is this telling us? Isn’t it that God would want to be with us and to be in solidarity with us always. When Masses are celebrated in our barangays, isn’t it that Jesus would want to be with us, his brothers and sisters? Do we also have that intense desire to be with Him, to be with Jesus?

The mystery of Incarnation which we have contemplated last Christmas teaches us that God, in His great love, became human to be with us and to save us from our Sins.

During this Lenten Season, perhaps we are asked to be one with Jesus in His suffering and death so as to share in his glory. Do we have the courage to stand with Mary at the foot of His cross – to suffer and to die with Him, to practice self-denial or self-restrain – so that like Him, we can be a source of life to all and be a living witness of God’s solidarity with His people?

We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to our beloved parishioners involved in the Apostolate of the OFWs and their Families. On this Migrants’ Sunday, we renew our support to this apostolate believing that this work is necessary and important. We continue to pray that this apostolate will be of great help, spiritually and morally, to our migrant workers and their families as we pro-actively and creatively respond to their needs.

Put on the full armor of God. Ephesians 6:11–Put on the full

armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” The war that is waged is one of principalities and powers and requires putting on the full armor of God to resist temptation. The darts of temptation need to be met with the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. Without protection, we are easily wounded by the arrows that pierce. Fear the Lord.

A healthy fear of the Lord is crucial to a successful walk of faith. Sin brings destruction. God’s way is meant to keep us from the snares of sin and the negative consequences that follow. Our loving Father shows us the way to escape unnecessary heartache. If we fear God and think about His ways, we can choose to walk an upright life with His help.

Sa pag-ilog sa aton Manunudlo, ginatawag kita sa pagpangatubang sa kaimulon sang aton mga kautoran kag sa paghimo sing mga tikang agod nga mapahagan-hagan ini. May tatlo ka sahi sang kaimulon: ang pagkaimol sa materyal nga mga butang, ang pagkaimol sa moralidad kag ang espirituhanon nga kaimolon. Ang mga nagapangabuhi sa materyal nga kaimulon amo yadtong nagakabuhi sa kahimtangan nga indi

iya sang tawo, mga nawad-an sang ila kinamatarong kag kinahanglanon pareho sa pagkaon, tubig, ikaayong lawas, trabaho kag oportunidad sa pagpauswag sa kaugalingon. Ang aton Santo Papa nagapangabay nga sa sining panahon sang Kwaresma, ang bug-os nga Simbahan mangin handa sa pagpanaksi para sa mga nagakabuhi sa kaimulon nga materyal, moral kag espiritwal, sang mensahe sang Ebanghelyo nahanungod sa maluloy-on nga paghigugma sang Dios nga Amay nga handa sa paghakos sa aton dira kay Kristo. Matigayon naton ini paagi sa pag-ilog kay Kristo nga nangin imol agod nga magmangin manggaranon kita. Ang panahon sang Kwaresma amo ang nagakaigo nga ti-on sa pagsikway sa kaugalingon. Kon mabakod kita sa aton pagtuo kag natul-id naton ang kamatuoran, natun-an sing maayo ang mga doktrina nga ginatudlo sang aton Simbahan indi na kita magdangup sa mga dios-dios o iban nga butang. Kasubong sadtong mga Israelinhon nga wala sang pagsalig sa “Divine Providence”, sila naghimo dayon sang bulawan nga baka kag ibaylo sa Dios. Bangod kay madali sila malipat sang maayo nga binuhatan sang Dios, sila nangin corrupt. Madamo man sa aton ang nangin corrupt tungod nangin madamo man ang aton dios-dios – manggad, poder, popularidad kag iban pa nga kalibutanon nga bagay nga ginpasulabi naton sang sa Dios nga Amay.

Kon aton pamalandungan, ining tatlo ka pagsulay nagakatabo man sa aton kabuhi. Sa sobra naton nga ambisyon, nagahimakas kita agud makatibawas, nangin masako sa aton mga hilikuton, sa bagay nga aton kaugalingon ang nangin sentro kag ang Dios nangin ikaduha ukon ikatatlo na lang sa

aton kabuhi . Madumduman lang naton Sia kon may malain nga matabo. Sa isa ka pulong, madumduman lang Sia naton kon may pangayuon kita. Abi naton ang tanan tungod sa aton paghimakas. Wala naton madumdumi nga kon wala ang langitnon nga bulig sang Dios wala gid kita.

Sa sining panahon sang Kwaresma, mag “Holy Retreat” anay kita. Lipatan ang kalibutan, buksan ang tagipusoon kag pasudlon si Jesus. Mag-exercise pirme, ´indi sang taebo’, kundi spiritual exercise, kaupod si Jesus. Mag-upod sa Iya sing mahinulsolon kag puno sang pagpaubos. Mamati sa Iya mga Pulong, magpenitensya kay makabulig ini sa aton pag-atubang sa mga pagsulay sang yawa sa aton kabuhi.

MUNTINLUPA City, March 5, 2014—A Marian group dedicated to

spreading the consecration to the Blessed Virgin was one of the first organizations to be officially recognized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) this year.

“This Year of the Laity, I think it is no accident that your recognition as a lay association would be one step towards recognizing [that you are] following the Lord’s will,” Episcopal Commission on the Laity (ECL) chairman Bishop Jesse Mercado said during a thanksgiving dinner last February 24 for the recognition of the confraternity of Mary Mediatrix of all-Grace as a new member organization of Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas

(Council of the Laity of the Philippines).

Bishop Mercado, who also heads the Diocese of Parañaque, praised the group for being “rooted in Mary, Our Mother and in Jesus, who is the Son of Mary.”

The ECL awarded the Confraternity official status as a member of Laiko last January 24.

Confraternity of Mary Mediatrix of All-Grace president Brenda Padilla expressed a lot of hopes for the future.

“May the Confraternity thrive and may it live and may it spread to the whole world…May the world be consecrated to Mary, so that we can all be warriors for our Lord Jesus,” Padilla said during

the dinner celebration at the Padilla residence with Bishop Mercado, Fr. Enrico Emmanuel Ayo, Fr. Melvin Castro, as well as several Confraternity members.

In closing, Bishop Mercado encouraged the group to continue with its apostolate after hearing about its having facilitated the consecration of grade school students to the Blessed Virgin earlier that day.

“I think the little miracles that you have been sharing a while are signs that you are on the right road,” he said.

Aside from promoting total consecration to the Blessed Virgin as prescribed by St. Louis de Montfort, the Confraternity also aims to spread devotion to Our Lady under the title Mary Mediatrix of All-Grace.

March 5, 2014. Pope Francis' first Ash Wednesday took

place at the Roman Basilica of St. Anselmo. He began there a procession to the Basilica of St. Sabina, to symbolize the 40-day long "itinerary.”

He arrived just before 5PM, and celebrated Mass. He also received the ashes from Slovak Card. Jozef Tomko.

During his homily, the Pope explained how Christians should approach the Lenten season. He called for an honest "conversion

of the heart,” and said that this "challenge” does not exclude anyone.

"We know that this world, ever more artificial, makes us live out in a culture of 'doing,' of the 'useful,' where, without realizing it, we exclude God from our horizon, and we exclude the horizon itself. Lent calls us to 'wake up,' to remind us that we are creatures, that we are simply not God.”

The Pope called out those who seek only power, and are willing to do anything to get it.

Pope Francis said that Lent is a moment to open up to others. And to do so, he added, there are three key words: prayer, fasting, and charity.

My devotion to God the Father started with a miracle. It happened to

me and to those who were with me one early evening, when I agreed to have the large picture of God the Father.

The weather was fine when we left Don Benito Chapel and there were many devotees who went with us. I was in the car of Sister Carol Hautea. When we reached Aganan in Pavia, we were surprised to hear loud clasps of thunder. The sky suddenly grew dark and heavy rain fell. Lightning flashed. Sister Carol asked me if I could postpone the consecration to another day when the weather would be clear. I told her I won’t. I prayed to God the Father in a loud voice, asking Him to clear the skies from Aganan to St. Joseph Subdivision where our house was located, still the heavy rain, thunder and lightning continued. But when we reached the gate of our house, everything stopped. The sky became clear and soon the moon appeared. We looked at each other as we thanked the Lord. My heart was beating fast.

The icon was consecrated in our Sala and I removed everything from the table in front of Him. I made an altar with the images of Jesus and the Blessed Mother and the picture of Jesus of the Divine

Mercy. On the small table at the right side, I placed the pictures of our beloved dead upon waking up in the morning and before turning in for the night, I pray to God the Father to save us – from accidents and dangers and natural calamities.

In my sunset years – going 87, I include in my rosaries (2 fifteen mysteries – and one rosary of petitions to God the Father), my prayer to our Blessed Mother, Queen of the Seven Swords and Jesus’ Way of the Cross.

Many have asked me if I don’t

feel any difficulty in writing for Candle Light. I simply smile and tell them that my mind and my pen are still fresh. Someone asked me: ‘Nga-a mam, ano ang obra mo sadtong una?’ I replied, ‘I am a retired teacher with 37 years of experience behind me. I was a teacher in English and Music. I told my Lord that I want my work in Candle Light and my apostolate to God the Father to be my last task as a disciple of God. I hope I will be given that privilege.

Last Sunday, during the Mass officiated by Msgr. Velarde, I was

very happy when in his homily, he emphasized the importance of God the Father – His generosity in giving us His beloved and only Son, Jesus to redeem us from eternal damnation. God the Father loves us very much, cares for us and wants us to be with Him at the end of our earthly life – but how do we respond? Do we hear His voice and listen to Him?

This is the time to set aside our worldly ambitions and increase our spirituality. Yes, the clergy, the nuns, the members of the apostolate may do much for us and sacrifice their time – their needs – and their pleasure, in order to awaken our desire for sanctity – but it depends on how we accept our relationship with Heavenly treasures.

Let us not wait for tomorrow what we can do for today. Let us make a place for God the Father in our heart right now, at this very moment. Feel the warmth He gives. Hear the promise of salvation; make that feeling an inspiration until we meet Him in Heaven.

God the Father never turns His back to us. God the Father has no favorites. He waits for His devotees- smiles and inspires them. He waves His scepter over His children and brings them to Him.

Look at Him! He is blessing you!

Kon ang pagkaon sang karne amo ang mangin balasihan sa kahimtangan sang tawo sa atubangan sang Dios tanan gali nga mga vegetarian makadto na sa impyerno? Sa mga tawo nga madali maghusgar sang mga Katoliko nahanungod sa mga kalan-on, dapat nila dumdomon ang ginahambal ni San Pablo sa Roma 14:3-6 nga naghambal “ang nagakaon indi magtamay sa wala nagakaon… ang nagakaon, nagakaon sa kadungganan sang Ginu-o samatang ang wala nagakaon wala nagakaon sa kadungganan sang Ginu-o kag nagapasalamat sa Dios”.

Wala gid kita nga mga Katoliko sing pasingadtuan. Kon sagad kita kaon sang karne masiling sila nga mga dalok-dalok kag kon indi naman magkaon sa yawa naman kuno kita… ti ano na lang ang aton himuon?... Ano ang aton pili-on, yawan-on ukon Diosnon nga pagtulon-an?

Dapat mahibaluan kag mapamalandungan sang kada Kristiyano ang istorya sang

Sang pagsulay sang Yawa kay Jesukristo, luyag niya nga tiplangon si Jesus nga maglukso halin sa pinakamataas nga bahin sang Templo tungod Siya malapit sa Amay. Apang ginhambalan Niya ang yawa: “Indi mo pagsulayon ang Ginoo nga imo Dios.”

Bilang Kristiyano, aton man talupangdon nga samtang nagabaskug kag nagadugang hugut ang aton pagtuo kay Jesukristo, nagadasig kag nagadamo man ang pagsulay sang Yawa. Sa pagsulay sang yawa kay Jesukristo nga maglukso sa Templo, iya man ginsambit ang mga tinaga sa Psalm 91 sang Daan nga Kasugtanan. Ang Yawa nag-gamit sang mga tinaga sang Bibliya sa pagtiplang kay Jesus. Bilang laiko, ginagamit ko bala ang mga tinaga sang Bibliya agud mangin alagyan ako sa tadlong nga dalan ni Jesukristo? Na-memorize ko na bala ang Psalm 91 kag ginasambit ini antes magpahuway kon gab-i agud bantayan ako sang Ginoo sa akon katulugon?

Sa pagsulay sang yawa kay Jesukristo

nga ihatag niya kay Jesus ang tanan nga kaharian kag kadayawan sang kalibutan, iya buko nga tandugon man ang bugal kag ambisyon sang katawhan sa manggad, gahum, impluwensiya, kag kapritso nga wala nagaka-igo. Ginganyat man sang Yawa si Jesus nga magluhod sa iya. Apang dira man siya nagsala. Sabat ni Jesukristo: ”Palayo ka Satanas! Magsimba ka sa Ginoo nga imo Dios, kag Siya lamang ang imo alagaron.” Bilang mga tumuluo ni Jesukristo, aku-on naton nga Siya ang naga-isahanon nga Ginoo naton, ang Dios nga Anak sang Amay, ang Manunubos kag Manugbulig nga labing Gamhanan. Aton ipangabuhi ang Iya pagkamapa-inubuson, kay ang tanan nga manggad, gahum, impluwensya, kaalam, kag bisan ang aton mga birtud naghalin sa aton Amay sa Langit.

Sa aton pagpangabuhi, indi kita malipat magdangup kay Jesukristo sa tanan nga tinion, bisan sa magamay nga butang. Si Jesukristo gid lang ang naga-isahanon nga Anak sang Dios-Amay, kag gin-Bunyagan sang Espiritu Santo.

Magdangup man kita sa bulig sang Mahal nga Birhen sang Candelaria, kay San Jose, mga Arkangeles San Miguel, San Gabriel kag San Rafael, sa aton man personal nga Anghel de la Guardia, kag sa aton paborito nga Santo.

beyond his strength. Trials may look great, but , there is no trial too great for one who relies on God’s strength. “No trial…beyond your strength… with the temptations…strength to escape and resist” (I Cor 10:13).

Therefore, how do we overcome temptations? First and foremost I believe if we are only sincere in our plea “give us this day our daily bread” I feel we will not easily be tempted by a promise of an easy, happy, comfortable and “magarbo” life as we are just asking for our “daily” need. When temptation comes we have to ask for wisdom of the Holy Spirit to be able to choose what is good. Another is stay away from tempters, “friends” who lead us to commit sins are not true friends. They are tempters. Stay away from places and occasions where we can easily be tempted. Pray always!

Remember, when we pass the test of God, He blesses us. God bless!

What is Temptation? How should we resist it?

Temptation is solicitation to sin, whether by persuasion or offereing some pleasure. It may arise from the world, the flesh or the devil.

According to Pocket Catholic Dictionary, temptation from the world is the attractiveness of bad example and the psychological pressure to conform temptations from the flesh are all the urges of concupiscence Demonic temptations arise from instigations of the evil spirit.

With the definitions of the different types of temptation given above, we could say that temptation happens anytime, and anywhere to anyone.

The three (3) gods of the modern man (wealth, power and fame or prestige) are so beautiful and attractive that promise comfort and pleasure by being ‘in’, and being looked up to in society. Communication media feed us in details how drug lords, corrupt government officials, members of crime syndicates

live affluent lives. But how do many of them and end their lives? In prison, killed or some even commit suicide. There are some who want to change their life-style but they cannot go out of the “game they play” because they fully know that their life is at stake.

Temptation from the flesh is now very sophisticated. Imagine what the cyber sex machine can offer. People who are miles and miles apart communicate sexually with each other. Because the world is now sexually-oriented, man invent machines to please man using another human being just to gain bodily pleasure. With this the human being who is made in the image and likeness of God is treated as an object, something to be manipulated just for bodily pleasure.

Demonic temptation happens when one is urged or incited to do an evil act. We know Satan never stops offering something “beautiful” and the “best” to be done at our most crucial moment.

Yes, I agree, life is difficult. Every day, we are confronted with problems that demand solutions. Motivated by convenience rather that principle, we are often tempted to use easy and instant ways which usually offer beautiful outcome but we know they are not the right ways. Remember while being offered these easy and instant ways. “Taning” (Satan) is now busy and very convincing in his promise of a better life ahead. We are “now being tempted,” we have not yet sinned. But the moment we say “Yes” and do what we are told to do, that is the time we say we had succumbed (yielded, given way, submitted) to temptation and therefore, committed sin. Meaning to say, from the moment of temptation to the time of yielding to it we still have the chance to consider whether we are just being tested or given by God the opportunity to choose what is right or being tempted by Taning to do what is wrong. We must remember that God does not allow any person to be tested
