ABUSIVEBEHAVIOUR

The Society will not tolerate any kind of abusive behaviour to its Officers,Committee or Staff on the Showground or car parks. Anyone found to be behavingin this manner will be asked to leave and a report will be sent to the Kennel Club.

DISABLED DRIVERS A limited amount of car park space has been allocated for disabled drivers. Accessto this area will only be permitted to those vehicles displaying an official DisabledDrivers Blue Badge. The Society do not issue Disabled Car Park Passes.

CARAVANS The site is operated by Stoneleigh Park and bookings MUST be made in advanceby contacting Stoneleigh Park Lodge Tele 02476 690 123.

FOULING Any owner, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove, assoon as possible, any fouling caused by their dog(s) within the licenced venue andwithin the environs of the event including car parks and approaches. Adequatereceptacles for the disposal of such fouling will be provided by the Society.

UNENTERED DOGS We regret that we are UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TENT FOR UNENTERED DOGSat the Show this year. However, you can enter dogs as NOT FOR COMPETITION(at a cost of £10 per dog). This will enable your dog to be benched alongsideyour entered dogs. Please refer to Not For Competition details above.Alternatively, unentered dogs may be brought to the Show on the day andadmitted as a SPECTATOR DOG (At a cost of £5 per dog). Upon arrival at theShow you will need to complete the necessary Kennel Club Form, giving anundertaking that you will keep your dog under control at all times.

PHOTOGRAPHY &VIDEO RECORDING

The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to theattention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors. It is a condition of all thoseattending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made atthe venue without express written permission of the organisers. The taking ofphotographs in the show venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with thewritten permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are providedwith permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines andinternet sites – this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the generalpublic taking photographs of general views of the show, provided that these are forprivate use. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor.No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actuallytaking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after theChallenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed fromoutside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affectingexhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are beingaffected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

MOBILE PHONES Please show consideration for other exhibitors and ensure that all mobile phonesare switched off when judging is in progress in the rings.

CATERING Refreshments will be available from 7.30am to 5.00pm. Bar facilities available from11.00am.

Changes to entries can only be made in writing to the Secretary and must be senton or before postal entries close.

RULES & REGULATIONSVicious dogs are not eligible and must not be brought to the Show

Exhibitors are held responsible for any damage done by their dog during the exhibition.

1 The Show will open at 7.30 a.m. daily.

2 Dogs will be received at any time from 7.30 a.m. until 12 noon but it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure thatexhibits are available for judging when required.

3 Breed Judging will start at 9.00 a.m. on all days unless otherwise notified or published in the dog press or with theexhibitors passes. Exhibitors will be responsible for their dogs being in the ring in time for judging.

4 Exhibits may be removed from the show after their judging has been completed. Exhibits may not be removed anyearlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show management andthen only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. The Showwill close half an hour after all judging has been completed at which time dogs must be removed.

6 Details of Entry Fees are on page 2. There is no separate benching fee. All entry fees and other charges quoted inthis Schedule and on the entry form are inclusive of V.A.T. ENTRY FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED ONCE ANENTRY HAS BEEN MADE. Entries may be made online at www.dog.biz.

6 Prize money under the relevant Stakes classes: Prize money must be claimed on the day.

7 The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.

8 Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition, ie born on or after28th February 2018.

9 The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden.

10 Best Puppy in ShowWhere a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed andhas been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any VarietyImported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the firstday of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically beawarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best ofBreed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog itshould also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively.Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection ofBest of Breed and Best in Show respectively.a Shows Judged on the Group System

11 Best in ShowThe dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and has been declared Best of Breed, Best Any VarietyNot Separately Classified or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register.a Shows Judged on the Group System

1) Best of BreedWhere a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which havereceived a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of abreed a Best of each Sex must be declared.NOTE:The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety Imported BreedRegister award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examinationby the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

2) Best of GroupBest of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:-

a) The Best of Breed winners in each groupb) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or on

each day.c) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Imported Breed Register class or classes in each Group or

on each day.NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety

Imported Breed Register from a breed designated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible tocompete in the Group competition unless it has passed an examination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. Ifthe dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

3) Best in ShowBest in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners. Reserve Best in Show must be selected fromthe remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

(b) Shows Not Judged on the Group SystemBest in ShowBest in Show and subsequent placings must be selected from:a Those dogs declared Best of Breed.b The dog declared Best from Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or on each day.c The dog declared Best from Any Variety Imported Breeds Register class or classes in each Group or on each

day.

12 Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since theannouncement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judgingnot being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13 Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causesits feet not to touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practicewould constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel ClubShow Regulation F11.

14 All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B): Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs forExhibition.

15 All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to theshow can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to theexhibitor/competitor.

16 Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days: Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take allreasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at riskby any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referredto the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guideyou through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Club licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday

route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water

available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water

available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of

time.Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire

results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLEENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17 Not For Competition. Not for competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recordedon the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

18 No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will befollowed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

19 The Show will be held under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Show Regulations. Every exhibitor making an entry orentries at or for this Show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by the Kennel Club Limited Rules and ShowRegulations and by these regulations, and it is on this understanding only that entries are accepted.

20 All entries must be made on or before Monday 9 July 2018, or made online before 12 noon on Monday 23 July 2018.Changes to entries can only be made in writing to the Secretary and must be sent on or before postal entries close.

21 If acknowledgement of entries is required, a stamped postcard/envelope with “receipt” written on thereverse side should be enclosed with entries.

22 The Catalogue will contain the owners’ name in each breed in alphabetical order with their dogs in numerical order.All dogs will be benched in the catalogue order and owners’ dogs of the same breed will be benched together. Nodecorations, pictures, cards or other notices may be placed over the benches except the Official Prize Cards andexhibitors name and address as per K.C. Regulations. No bench numbers shall be changed from one pen to anotherand no dog shall be benched on any but its own numbered pen. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY PARTITIONSBETWEEN DOGS BE REMOVED. Such action weakens the general structure of the benching and is contrary to KCShow Regulations F(1)5c.WARNING: The benching is provided by the Association in accordance with KC Limited Rules & Show Regulationsand whilst the Association has taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the benches provide reasonable security todogs, owners of dogs using the benching will be solely responsible for any injury or damage suffered to their dog(s)as a resuilt of a defect in the benching or manner of construction thereof. The Association hereby excludes all liabilityunder the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 with respect to any such damage or injury.

23 Exhibitors will receive one pass (not transferable) for each dog entered. If Exhibitor’s passes have not beenreceived, or if you have any queries, Higham Press should be contacted direct on 01773 832390.

24 All exhibits must be accompanied. The Committee cannot undertake to accept or despatch unaccompanied dogs.The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensurethat the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car parks and approaches.

25 All dogs must be removed from their benches within 30 minutes of the completion of Group Judging on the first andsecond days, and after the Best in Show Judging on the final day.

26 All dogs, except Toydogs, must have a benching chain and collar.27 No dog may be removed from its bench, except for the purpose of being prepared for exhibition, judged, excercised

or by order of the Veterinary Surgeon or Show Committee. After being prepared, the dog must be replaced on itsbench. No dog shall be absent from its bench for the purpose of being exercised at any time for longer than 30minutes. Dogs may not be present at the ringside, except when their breed is being judged at the same time.Gangways must be kept clear at all times. Kennel Club Regulation F(1) 5e applies. The Committee will not beresponsible for Exhibitors missing their classes.

28 Conversation not allowed in the judging ring. Exhibitors showing dogs are not allowed to hold conversation with theJudges during the competition. No persons other than Exhibitors (Officials excepted) will be allowed in the ringduring the judging of classes or specials.

29 Change of Judge: Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Committee reserves theright to appoint a substitute. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition, but no entry fees can bereturned.

30 The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of the dogs brought for competition, but it must bedistinctly understood that the Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of or damage whatever, orfrom any act of omission of themselves, their Officers, agents, servants or others.

31 Should any question arise, not provided for by these Regulations or by the Kennel Club Rules, the decision of theCommittee shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club.

32 DOGS IN VEHICLES: THE COMMITTEE WILL REFUSE ENTRIES FROM ANY EXHIBITOR PROVED, TO THESATISFACTION OF THE COMMITTEE, TO HAVE LEFT ANY DOG OR DOGS IN A DISTRESSED CONDITIONIN ANY MOTOR VEHICLE AT THE SHOW.

33 Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title ofChampion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted aswins at Open Shows.

In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members’ classes or competing for Members’ Specialseach partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.

NO DOGS SHOULD BE LEFT UNATTENDED AT ANY SHOW FOR VERY LONG PERIODS. THE KENNELCLUB’S ADVICE TO DOG OWNERS AND BREED SOCIETIES SHOULD BE STUDIED CAREFULLY

In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing ofpostal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 2nd July 2018.

Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins in bothBreed and Variety classes must be counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value.

If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, theexhibitor may choose one of the following options:-

WithdrawalThe dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20.Transfer(a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height, the Show

Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed colour, sex, weight or heightand, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class forthe correct breed colour, sex, weight or height.

(b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy Class, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age butunder 12 calendar months of age, 18 calendar months of age or 24 calendar months of age respectively, theShow Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Class respectively forthe correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or YearlingClass, to the Open Class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open Class for the correctbreed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dogmay not be transferred to any other class.

MINOR PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.PUPPY—For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.JUNIOR—For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.YEARLING—For dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.UNDERGRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at

Championship Shows, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. (Minor Puppy, Special MinorPuppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not).

GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at ChampionshipShows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not, whereChallenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

POST GRADUATE—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at ChampionshipShows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whether restricted or not, where ChallengeCertificates were offered for the breed.

LIMIT—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of anygoverning body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 3 or more CACIB/CAC/Green Stars or won seven or moreFirst Prizes in all, at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined to the Breed, whether restricted ornot, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

OPEN—For all dogs of the breeds or varieties for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.VETERAN—For dogs over seven years of age on the first day of the Show.CHAMPION—For dogs which have been confirmed a Champion, Show Champion or Field Trial Champion. Champion

classes may not be scheduled for individual breeds or varieties of breeds.IMPORTED BREED REGISTER—For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when an Interim

Breed Standard has been published by the Kennel Club. Such breeds may be exhibited in this class only, with thewinning dog being eligible for Best in Group / Best Puppy in Group or Best in Show / Best Puppy in Show as relevant.

ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED—For breeds of dog for which no separate breed classes arescheduled.

NOT FOR COMPETITION—Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries. Societies may acceptsuch entries from breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows held over more than oneday, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed. Regulation F.1.c: Only dogs of six calendarmonths of age and over on the first day of the show are eligible for exhibition at Kennel Club icensed shows.However societies may accept Not for Competition entries at their discretion and dogs aged four calendar monthsof age and over are eligible to enter Not for Competition at all Kennel Club licensed shows. Futhermore, dogs agedfour calendar months and over are eligible to enter Match Competitions.

YKC STAKES—Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entryinto a YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed Register to compete in a YKC stakescompetition. The first placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosettewill be awarded. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. All pedigreedogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must beregistered a) solely or jointly in the member’s name or b) in the name of a close member of the family (i.e. a group ofpeople related by blood or by marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKCmember’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dog must be handled by the registered YKCmember. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf ifthey are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. Members must be aged 6

- 24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKCterminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Cruftsthey will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout thecompeting year. In order to enter any YKC competition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry andcompetition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any awardwill be forfeited Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish toparticipate in YKC competitions.

KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS’ COMPETITION—Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of fourdogs of one breed, all bred by the same breeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and thenarranges which dogs are exhibited on the day of the show. Please clearly state the name and affix of the registeredbreeder(s). Entries will not be taken on the day of the show. Teams will be awarded points/prize money in the KCBreeders’ Competition as follows: Points 1st; 30; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5. Prize Money 1st Non ABS Prize Fund £20;ABS Prize Fund £25. Please note that Assured Breeders will be credited with a higher prize value. These points willbe recorded in the Kennel Club Breeders Competition record book through the year. The minimum qualification forthe Crufts final will be 50 points, with a maximum of 40 finalists including the winning teams from the European andWorld Dog Shows’ breeders competition. Our Dogs will collate the points and publish a leader board through the year.

ANY VARIETY GOOD CITIZEN — For dogs which have achieved their Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze awardcertificate or above.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F(B)1 These Regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited at any Kennel Club

Licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under these ShowRegulations and/or for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rule A42.(a) A dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these Regulations will automatically be disqualified from

exhibition at the show and from any award gained thereat.(b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited in breach of these

Regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fine or as listed under Rule A42.2 (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be present in the dog’s coat for

any purpose at any time during the Show. No substance which alters the natural colour of any external part ofthe dog may be present on the dog for any purpose at any time during the Show.

(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dog for exhibition must notbe allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog at the time of exhibition.

3 No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof may be performed except:(a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) The removal of dewclaws of any breed.(c) Operations to prevent breeding, provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered

dogs are shown.Nor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee to deceive.

4 The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog or dogs at any Show. Anyexamination thus ordered will be made by a person having executive authority who shall have a written directivefrom the Kennel Club in their possession. Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5 An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner or handler of a dog competingin the same breed or class. An objection may, however, be lodged by an official of the Show or by anyone sodeputed by the Kennel Club. It will be the responsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (asappropriate), to substantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the grounds for anobjection made on its behalf.

6 Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must be made in writing to theShow Secretary at his/her office before the close of the Show and the individual must produce evidence of identityat the time of lodging the complaint.

The attention of exhibitors is drawn to the fact that any advertisement for a coatpreparation or shampoo or similar in either Schedule or Catalogue does not imply that theuse of such preparation may not contravene Kennel Club Regulations for the Preparationof Dogs for Exhibition-F. This also applies to any coat preparation or shampoo or similaron sale at The City of Birmingham Dog Show. The attention of exhibitors is directed to thedeclaration they are required to sign on the Entry form.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest Dog Training Programmein the UK and encourages dog owners to recognise the responsibilities they have inowning a dog. To date, over 2000+ training organisations participate in the Scheme,which in turn has produced many proud recipients of the Good Citizen Dog SchemeAwards.

The Scheme incorporates all aspects of domestic dog owning situations includinggeneral health care, grooming, basic obedience and control exercises. Whether youhave a domestic pet dog or a show winner, a well-behaved dog is of primaryimportance. Remember you can have brains as well as beauty!

We are pleased to advise that in 2018 dedicated areas will again be set up within theshowground to offer three levels of the Scheme’s testing sessions and opportunitiesto show in specific Good Citizen classes. These are as follows:-

Bronze Award testing sessions will be held throughout the day, so come along tothe ring when you have a spare moment and take part. No need to pre-book.Remember to bring with you a poop scoop bag, your dog’s grooming equipment andensure your dog is wearing a collar and lead with the name and address of theowner written on it.
